Nice video and music. Perfect. Surfed El Cap point a ton between 1975-82. This really reminded me of those days. Jalama also. Ranch too There is a fantastic stand up barrel from the Creek to where every body is taking off from in this footage. But, gotta be At least Ten feet more like Twelve feet. and inbetween tides. I got mine there the day Shaun Thomsen showed up in Winters 1977-8. Really massive swells, long wet Winter rains and consistent North and huge West swells. From Rincon to the Ranch. Surfed John Bardbury gunns. Made for this coast. Long 7-8' narrow 19" wide soft nose rails really turned up for late drops on long points and reefs.
Bummer. I watched again. I paddled out at 12:00pm, probably didn't catch my first wave until 1:00pm. Took nearly an hour for every wave. That current was intense!
My knees don't allow me to surf anymore, but you never really stop being a surfer. Point is, when this swell hit, the first place I thought of was El Capitan as a perfect destination. It's a great but fussy point that needs a decent swell to really show its stuff. So good thinking on your part. :-)
I have, and it's fun b/c it's still a long wave that doesn't close out. The campground for our overnight stay was very nice as well, and it was a pleasant experience. But yeah, we passed up 4-5 ft. crowded surf at Rincon for something maybe half the size and crowded as well.
Those wide sets look menacing. Were they capping and then reforming outside the rivermouth? Some that came from the indicator looked like they were growing as they came to the rivermouth.
I'm your fan!!! I'm your admirer!!! I only have one sadness about you, that you throw your fans away like trash, I'm one of them, but still, I'm your fan!!! I have observed your journeys, trajectories and struggles, I reflect a lot on your strength, nothing is easy, but we need to move for things to happen, even with struggles and difficulties, problems, including: this is our motto: struggles and wars daily, that try to stop us from getting where we want, but we are insistent in everything, so that we can get there... of course, clinging to God, regardless of religious belief, this is the only way we can get there, that's it. It's all good!!! I'm your fan!!! May God bless you so much, always including your family!!! Happy Holidays, my friend from far away!!! Please don't throw me away!!! Here’s to 2024, with many victories and achievements!!! These are the wishes of your friend from afar: Rubenn Dean Paul Alws "Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro" Brazil!!! (Google/RU-vid)
Honestly, doesn t look that great.. rather surf a 3 foot barrel. Love the guys on there 5'8 s skipping out and can't turn with the speed they have. Knowledge people.
Steve, great job on your first attempt. I was out there with my son and remember seeing your drone. You did a good job on keeping your distance away from us, but got some good video. I'm stoked to have some video of a classic Rincon Day!
