I inherited the exact machine. Is there a demonstration showing how to bring the bobbin thread to the top? Would appreciate help.

I have the same generator. It’s a pretty neat little rig. It does have a low oil shut off. There is actually a sticker on the pull cord side of it. Also that goofy plug on the top, was actually where a fuel window used to be. Mine would leak gas from around the edge of the window when full. I had a guy seal it up for me. I’m guessing that your generator had the same issue from the previous owner . Thanks for sharing!

I'm currently restoring one. That fan was branded by half a dozen names such as Kenmore, Wizard and a few others. the rotor and bearing design changes slightly. the better design was where the bearing and oiler felt was bolted to the stator and not the housing. I have the Eskimo base for sale and primed for paint if interested.

I have one with the same build layout as yours only with a metal base and the secondary cog on the far side of the roller looks a little different. I think Nelson is the manufacturer at least going by the color blue mine is. My double unit has a single drum and the other is split into two sections equally. Runs great and it is almost as quiet as this one.

Parker and Dunhill were associated at the time. You can find pretty much the same lighter with the Parker name on it. The Parker model has a square dancer base, the Dunhill a round base. There are at least 31 variations of the silent flame lighter with the Dunhill brand on it. This is the most common model, tho there are 3 different models of the Sally Rand "fan dancer" One with a ball and another with veils. Other models include a statue of liberty, and Superman. They are much rarer. One of the rarest is the WBAL Radio figure. There are other advertising models that are just as rare. Finding one in this beautiful condition is unusual.

I found one of these machines in my wife's grandfathers garage it needs to be re wired and cleaned up but I would love to use it to refinish my parents floors. Any help on getting parts for it would be great.
@mikeshotrodshop
@mikeshotrodshop 9 лет назад
We couldn't find parts from the original manufacturer either, but when it was taken apart we found we could get most of the parts from Granger. The small rear wheels are from them, the rear axle we made, the belts were from Granger (special order though), and the bearings we got from a local bearing supply store. These older machines are built very well and we had not a single problem with this machine. The drums can wear out and not hold the sandpaper good enough but if you need to replace that you can use a newer drum of the same size.

That is nice to see. You don't really see people restore a Bersted built fan 'properly', being they were the VW bug of fans. I have finished mine now, I'll have to get a video. I like seeing one restored properly! Mine is hammered blue, (And I added a chrome cap on the back!)
@mikeshotrodshop
@mikeshotrodshop 10 лет назад
It is true that the cheaper items are rarely restored, but when your bored you can actually get some things accomplished. I like the blue ones, but I found a pink one (not for sale) and I hear it is the rarest of rare. Ugly, but sure has that 50's look. Thanks for the comments!
@mikeshotrodshop
@mikeshotrodshop 11 лет назад
Thanks! The plating was sent off to a plating facility and redone. I requested nickel only because I prefer it to chrome, it is more white than silver. Plating was not cheap, it cost something like $80 to have it done but it sure made the project come out the way I was hoping. I did the krinkle finish myself. I have seen the blue ones, they are nice. This one was black when it was new so I just kept the scheme the same. Plus I like deco chrome and black stuff anyway. Be sure post a video !!
@Baldwin587
@Baldwin587 11 лет назад
You sure made that look fine! I have one, an 1100R, but it's not exactly appealing. I do plan on restoring it though. How did you have the nickle plating done? Mine was a baby blue color from the looks of it.
