Joel jkd....Dude, you DO REALIZE this film footage is sped up, right? It is not showing normal playback speed at all. Someone at some point, whether decades ago or recently in a copy that you posted, sped the speed up. Lee was fast, but not this fast. It is very easy to see by the jerky movements of not just Lee, bit the guy standing there next to him....that the film is sped up, so maybe have honesty and note that in your video title or just change the title altogether.

I still don't think it's sped up for 2 reasons. 1, there are parts in that video where bruce is moving slow, then fast. I 1st want to note I DIDN'T alter the speed of the video at all, and that you can find this video online as well with the sam speed. However if bruce is going slow then fast then slow, then that should me that's its at regular play back speed because it would be EXTREMELY hard for someone back in the day to speed up them slow down then speed up the footage. Like I said I didn't alter the speed, so the only other option is that who ever originally filmed the video altered the speed but it would've been EXTREMELY hard. I could understand if it was a big popular video that everyone saw and that could be the reason to them speeding it up, to make bruce look great, but this is a random old video. Who would go through all that editing just for you and me to be the only ones to see it. 2, there are PLENTY of videos of bruce Lee's speed and people who talk about Bruce's speed that says AND shows that he was and is faster than everybody. Even then I have a video on Tommy's Carruthers, a talented JKD teacher and he moves incredibly fast as well and that wasn't altered either. If you doubt me on Bruce Lee's speed, please look up youtube videos on the topic to see it for yourself. Then tell me what you think

@@joelpollardjkd Wrong. Wrong and Wrong. Listen, I am 59 and have not only multiple Black Belt levels in several arts since before you were born, and then studied under Dan Inosanto since 1993. I have also studied under Rick Tucci, one of the top Inosanto JKD Instructors in the world...and I am 59 now a self defense instructor for 25 years and an athlete all my life and have seen Lee in all his films many times over and have tons his backyard training videos and ten documentaries on him with rare footages of him training, sparring, doing chi sao etc....and so trust me when I tell you, this video was SPED UP. And it absolutely looks sped up even in what you call the parts where he is moving at normal speed going slow, as does the other guy in the video. All the movements, slow and fast throughout the entire video look jerky and too fast and not natural, with both people in the video, not just Bruce. That is telltale that it has been sped up and actually man, it is just very obviously sped up. It's not even hard to catch. It's blatantly a sped up video. I know what Lee looked like moving fast and this ain't it. The other guy also is moving unnaturally " jerky". Further, it is VERY easy for anyone to speed up video like this, SUPER easy in fact using any video software editing program. Please be aware too, that Lee had his OWN movement sped up during the editing of a few of his films in a couple short scenes here and there. YES, yes he did. Why? Because he could and because he wanted it to look very cool that he looked that fast onscreen. One scene segment he sped up was a 5 or so second spot where he does a low kick then a high kick on Bob Wall in the outside scene in Italy in Return of the Dragon. One Bachelor's degree of my 3 total University degrees is in FILM MAKING. Yes, you heard right and that scene is sped up for about 5 seconds. It is not only fairly easy to tell by the movements of Wall and Lee, but just when the camera of that scene begins showing the scene...it is panning left to right...and somewhat unevenly too, but THAT is where Lee sped up the playback in the editing room because the panning and uneven waiver of the camera is WAY too fast and unnatural. No camera person would do it that way anyway. Lee just slightly sped that few seconds leading up to his low and high kick because he wanted his double kick to look amazingly fast to the audience. Not a big deal, movies are to entertain. Anyhow, bottom line, saying this video represents Lee's incredible speed, is being dishonest. Again, you should either change the title or find another video of Lee where he is fast and the film is playing at a normal playback rate. Tons of movies had sped up scenes in them, going back to the 1930s. It's easy to do in editing and in the 1970s when Lee did his movies, it was commonplace and had been already since as I said, for 40 years before that. You should change the video or at least the title. I would just use a different video of Lee. Anyway, keeping the title as it is here is simply....dishonest.

@Newengland1966 I made it up, but what I'm saying is if you ask ANYONE in real life if they've seen this video, they'll all say no. If you ask most hard-core bruce lee fans, they'll say they haven't seen it, or they saw like a 30 second clip, not the entire thing and then I took the time to put the right subtitles in too

@philosopher0076
@philosopher0076 6 дней назад
@@joelpollardjkd I teach JKD for over 20+ years kid. I researched fully about Bruce back in the 1970's and 1980's and early 90's before you were born and have talked to people who knew Lee and were students of Lee plus been taught since 1993-94 by Dan Inosanto, my Sifu/Guro who was Lee's protege and assistant instructor. The film here is VERY obviously sped up and that is easy to see. It isn't even " possibly " sped up, it's OBVIOUSLY sped up so you should have integrity and change the title or remove it for an actual video that HONESTLY REPRESENTS Lee's speed.

@philosopher0076 kid?? I'm a 21 year old Firefighter, ive been a Firefighter for 2 years, don't call me kid. Keep it respectfully. Second, we both know that EVERYONE who ever new Bruce Lee said that he was the Fastest Martial Artist the ever met. Jesse Glover even said that you didn't even see his fist when he punched, you'd just feel the wins. So he was much faster than other Martial artist and he constantly worked on attributes like speed. Third, my newest youtube short shows me punching at full speed and it looks sped up too, but it's not. And I know FOR SURE bruce lee was faster then me

Another important thing to note, is to practice trapping with boxing gloves. Gonna be honest, most of the sparring/fighting we do is with boxing gloves, so it's important to do as much training with the gloves to get that sensitivity and feel for it too. It's just annoying cuz with boxing gloves it changes the feel a bit. Still possible, but needs to be practiced too. of course with MMA gloves it's easier to do, but sparring with MMA gloves is kinda dangerous in how you could easily hurt your opponent. MMA gloves are cool though, but not safe for just training or medium/hard sparring. but good stuff man keep it up
