Are they allowed to lift and drop boxes on you whilst you’re in the cab? Or do you have to exit to a “safe” spot? Also do they mainly use single trailers out of the ports or do they do double and triples in the USA?
Got to know your load. That obviously shifted and pulled him over. People don’t realise there’s a lot of knowledge and skill to being a good truck driver.
@@violetscreaming that's has nothing to do.,,you just have 70hrs a week divided in 14hrs a day on duty and 11hrs of driving whichever comes first.,, sometimes traffic, weather accidents etc .,so it doesn't matter if your destination city is close or far away ,if you run out of time you just run out of time.,,you maybe can use PC(personal conveyance) but that's another storie
@@chevofranco6085 what I meant was in America where cities are generally closer together they give you 11 hours drive time, whereas in Australia where you won’t make it from one city to another (you might do it if absolutely everything works perfectly and you don’t need any load and unload time) in only 11hours, so you can go and get what they call an extended logbook by visiting your dr and doing a course and stuff that allows you to drive for 14 hrs. If they didn’t do that we would never get anything overnighted between capital cities
Is that company policy or the law for the to put you up in a hotel when you run out of hours? Follow up question: Do you mean ran out of hours for the week or each day?
Truck drivers that drive over a certain distance from base have a set number of hours they can drive per day, then in Australia it’s also a certain number of days per week and then you have to be away from the truck for a day. They are also required to take a couple of breaks and record it all in a log book. In Australia it’s 12-14hrs a day depending on wether you are authorised to do extended hours (14) However most trucks have a sleeper bunk so there are no hotels involved (with some exceptions such as when my hubby was doing extended stays in cities when working on concert tours) I’m guessing this guy drives a day cab, that is a truck without a bed that’s not designed for interstate work. The hotel is more than likely a rarity, otherwise the business would go broke. But obviously I’m only surmising, I do t actually know.
I ran them for most of 35 years. The best one had a Detroit in it. It would roast the tires. The thing about it that sucked was the top of the rear door opening was low for going in and out over a 100 times a day. When you hit the top of your head wirh a hat on, you would end up on the floor.
So for sleeper your counting your spot and 2 next to it then go into a 3 o’clock, and day cab you count your spot and 3 next to it before you go into 3oclock???
I'm sitting here outside of a FedEx warehouse and just noticed the yard dogs moving trailers around ... I've operated one of them before when I worked at Penske ... I don't know why I wanted to see it on RU-vid 🤣
I can move these trailers with my eyes shut, it was nothing for us to move between 130 to 155 trailers in a 10 hr shift. But we also had computers in our Jockey Trucks to keep us moving trailers. Too bad ES3 is an ass wipe to work for. I worked there for about six years jockeying trailers and was second in seniority, I had the privilege of working with some of the best jockeys around. Everyone of us took care of our trucks, always did a walk around before and after our shift, we kept our trucks clean on the inside as well as the out. We also worked as a team. I moved containers as well as trailers. I believe when I very first started the Pup trailers were the worst in learning to back into a spot, but it took me about a full day, and it was a piece of cake. My advice to anyone who is a jockey or wants to learn how to back a trailer or container or pup trailers in a spot where they need to go is simple. The secret is to watch your back tandem, not the back of the trailer, but your tandems, if you do that and put them tandems between them lines you will always back em right in with no problems. If your looking at the ass in of that trailer or container or a pup trailer while backing it in you will be there all day, and looking like an ass. Lol just saying. But watch those tandems and it doesn’t matter where they are located on the trailer ether, they might be slid all the way up or somewhere in the middle of the ass end or slid all the way back, it doesn’t matter. Just watch them tandems, you will get em there everytime. But of course watch the other trailers also as to being careful not to come to close or hitting them. I sure do miss that kind of work. Good luck to all you Jockeys out there🪶
I’m currently about to start cdl school in my local town. I just completed the jockey truck certification last month and that help show me a lot about backing. I watched your videos before I went to that class and I still do. Thanks for the informative videos
Peace Joey! I've been out of the trucking game for over 10 years now. I still have my CDL, and I'm ready to get back out there. The problem I'm having is no will give me a shot, because I don't have 1 year otr in the last 3 years. What would you suggest Good Brother?
What’s up, my brother first I know what you’re going through. We all been through it. I suggest you should go with these big companies like Schneider JB Hunt, swift hub group. They pretty much will give you a chance with at least three months so once you’re in you get your experience with them then you can move on.
I got a Question. What to do when you Leave an abusive Job. I just left a Job. I returned truck back in the yard and empty I finished my Run. And took off.... What should I do if they Dac report me
Thanks Joey Your Videos Helped Me Become a Shunt Truck Driver and the Technique You Teach Really Help ME Put the Trailers in the Hole and on the Ferry Where They Needed to Be. Thanks For Your Help Brother I Appreciate it , Hope to See More New Videos Soon .
