PRIMITAL EXPRESS## The puppet parts? The parts are a super thin layer of urethane resin back filled with ridged urethane foam (smooth-on products). It’s super lightweight, durable and since I made silicone molds of the parts I can make more any time.
Hello, thanks for sharing this video, I'd like to know if you could tell me how to insert the head on a table puppet, because I'm working alone and the heads or is to rígid or it falls down... Thank you very much!!!!
Not sure what you mean by a table puppet. If it's a marionette, you want the joints as loose as possible. It's controlled by string attachment points on the head. If it's a rod puppet, there's many different options for mounting and moving the head.
Torso and hips could be made from wood... Heck, the whole thing could be made of wood! The casting procedure was done so that once you have a successful puppet body, you can replicate it and alter it easily, which speeds up the process when making other puppets!
Hello Mike, greeting from Chile!. Im writing to you because My partner and me are trying to build and create a marionette show here in Chile, from complete ignorance. We stumbled upon your video and we've been trying to figure out how did you make this mechanism for the mouth and eyes. We would be so grateful if you could give us some advice or instructions, please! This is my email ibar.lemus7@gmail.com so we can have a more complete talk and maybe send some pictures of our marionettes. ! Best regards, Tamara and Ibar from Valparaíso, Chile!
Eulogio Mesco - I've been building puppets for a long time, and built this as part of my friend Scott Land's class on building Marionettes presented by the Stan Winston School of Character Arts. The class is now available streaming (thru subscription to their online school) or as a DVD purchase. Search RU-vid for @stanwinstonschool
All the parts are sculpted, then silicone molds made and urethane resin parts hollow cast. The body, legs and feet are filled with rigid foam and the hands are solid cast...
Wow, I don’t know how I missed this comment (hard to believe I made this guy 5 years ago!!). The body parts were sculpted in clay, silicone molded and then slush cast with a urethane resin and back filled with rigid foam. I do this so it’s easy to replicate lightweight puppet bodies quickly. The parts or easily cut and modified with epoxy/epoxy putty.
