Great video. Think I’ve been watching some of your other vids too. Question: is there a good forum for these? I don’t know much about the Panda 4x4 but I’d like to learn more and chat about them. Thanks.
Recognise some of these lanes you’ve gone down do you need to get permission? As one of them is just round the corner from my house and I’m just getting into four-wheel-drive just got Ford Ranger with a lift kit
Hi! All of the lanes we went on are public and you do not need permission. Your best bet is to become a member of the green lane association so you can get access to a map which shows them all. Another one is an app called Wikiloc
I have driven from the uk through France, Spain and Andorra, along the Pyrenees in a Land Rover, when we did the final part of the trip our tour guide brought some friends with them who had a Panda 4x4 air twin, it’s went everywhere we could in the Landy. Even drove the Smugglers Run from Spain into Andorra with no issues. The guy who owned it was told not to get a panda as he would brake it, but as he said “I can’t brake it, I have tried” that was the point I decided I would love a panda and now I own one, even if I’m not aloud to take it off roading… yet (wife’s permission needed”. I love my Panda and I am curious about making mods and weather I will get away with them and the mrs noticing. I do have a mk3 and hope to mod it soon. Thank you for the inspiration. Hope you enjoy Andorra, there are many lanes and roads to take. Watch out for the parachuting cow signs.
Oh right very cool! That sounds like you had a really good trip there. As soon as the wife allows it, get the Panda’s off road! But even as an every day car on road, they are great little cars.
Do you have 4x4 engage lever modification? (I don't know how is called 😂) Edit: i just saw the video where you did it, great job. Thinking doing the same to my panda
Quick tip/thought..19mins in..I’d swap that nyloc nut for a dome head nut and use blue threadlock , I’d be worried when the bump stop hits they would wear rough rubbing against those exposed threads 👍🏼 Nice idea for the spring holders btw! I feel like we all need to start a hashtag like #watchthisjamesmay ..bet you a £ to a penny he’d come and drive it!lol Enjoyed the vid mate!
@@PTP4X4 sadly we will have moved on towards Austria by then. We are taking a E34 5 series touring so quite an unconventional off-roader but we will be attempting the smugglers pass into Andorra on around the 2nd of September. 🤞
@@PTP4X4 I get that it's different, and that's "cool", but from practical side - after all the mods, time and money spent, you get the same or worse MPG, similar or worse offroad capabilty, and similar on road capability as stock jimny with just AT tyres. Regarding part prices, that's kinda my point - purpose built platform like jimny would not break nearly as often, rendering price of parts less relevant. Another factor to consider is labour price to fix said parts. I get that you're famous and your pal fits them for an opportunity to colab in your videos, but most people would have to pay full labour costs. And it's these costs - not parts - that is generaly more expensive in any visit to the shop.
Oh definitely I have gone OTT with my Panda for sure. But jimny’s are very fragile off road, tend to rust a lot and way more to buy in the first place. A nice Panda 4X4 is around £2.5k, but a nice jimny is £5k plus. The jimny is very good off road though and there’s plenty off the shelf parts for them, and they are awesome things. But you see them all the time when you’re off roading, and the really expensive parts like the transfer box do often crap themselves. The new shape jimny is amazing and I would have loved to get one. But they are £15k and not in my budget. I’ve spent around 6k on my panda in total and it’s more capable than a jimny with AT tyres on. But both are great cars! Also .. I do have to pay for labour unfortunately 😂 granted at a lower rate but it does still cost me to get the work done. I do what I can myself though to keep costs down.
I like it, I’m a conservationist and gardener, and would love something similar. I like the old ones, but they cost a fortune now. How have you achieved the 60mm lift?
Oh nice ! Yes the old ones are cool, but like you said they have gone up in price. I’m in the process of making the video showing how I did the lift kit which should go live tomorrow
Anyone can go there. Often green lanes are on private land, but they are a public right of way.. like a foot path. Sometimes there’s restrictions though. If you become a member of the green lane association they will tell you everything
@@PTP4X4 oh no way, that’s crazy I never knew that. Thanks for replying. Il look into it. A Toyota Hilux for me to insure is out the question because it’s commercial so they want over £600 a month. But a land cruiser same engine and drivetrain I believe, £60 a month to insure.
Just think, if this was an American, we could have the dramatic music, countless shots from different angles, loud presenters, lots of drama etc. It's nice to just enjoy the sighs and sounds properly.
Hello Pedro, I have exactly the same car, only LHD. What tires are you driving on? And where do you got the 40 lift kit? You are a great driver, with a great Car!! Thank you!
Hello, I need to put 20 millimètres spacers at the rear of my 169 4x4. Do I need to remove the rear diff to do it ? Could you give me some explanations please ? Many thx !
So I did fit a slightly bigger engine out of another panda. So it’s a 1.4 instead of a 1.2. And I swapped my viscous coupler for a mechanical one.. but that’s it.
