Its funny how loser nobodies always like to make fun of aging stars whose legends will live on for many many years while the loser nobodies will be remembered by virtually no one.
Such a great history and a lot of warmth between those two. I think Leslie may have been suffering from a cold, but she sure soldiered on through that performance.
No wonder Lesley enjoyed working with background singers, that choral response ending to "It's My Party" was fantastic! Quite possibly the best ending I've heard. RIP Lesley Gore
Someone messed up with the clip purporting to be from 1963. Clearly the wrong hairstyle, to say nothing of the nose. It was actually from '66! The full clip featuring both "It's My Party" and "Off And Running" can be found here on RU-vid - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BbPN3XvvGnI.html
A really great interview. The questions are genuine and feel the sort that I would want to ask Lesley. I can only admire her responses. The honesty about her inner life. The sheer professionalism of how she handled her career. She has a wonderful voice- both speaking and of course singing RIP
It's too bad these versions of her classic hits have never been released on CD. The backing track from It's My Party sounds like the original but the vocal certainly is completely different. You Don't Own Me is a brand new recording.
I’m 20 years old and I’ve been listening to Lesley Gore since I was a child. My father loved her music, and in turn, so do I. I first saw her on the 1960’s Batman TV show, and there’s not a song of hers I don’t love. Anything she sings makes me happy, and any performances of hers I see are always amazing. This world shown a bit brighter because she was in it🙏🙏❤️
If Leslie Gore announces that she was gay in the mid 60s even though all this was going on and she mentioned she would lose her career and it will go right down to Johnny flusher
Just keep on bringing up race and it will never go away. How dare you say Quincy Jones is the first of anything when he was just one of the greatest musicians/producers music man of the past 60 years. You want him to be known as the first black this or that or do you want him to be known for his greatness as as his place in music history. Makes me sick to here this 1st black this or than. Shit, stop it.
Do you happen to have the video of Lesley performing in 1964 at a school. I’m not too sure where but she sang It’s My Party, Judy’s Turn To Cry, Just Let Me Cry, She’s A Fool, Young And Foolish and a few more.
I wish lesley could have come out as soon as she new she was gay. To many of us lgbt people still are afraid to come out. I miss you every day. Rest in peace.
Motown was a major label. In 1966 it sold more singles than any other label. I am sure it had a black VP by then, since a black man, Berry Gordy, owned it.
