i am some years late but my god is this piece breathtaking, i could picture every movement like it was a movie. i love the euphonium greatly and this was a great way to showcase it and the instruments beauty.
I love that this is a live performance and it is done so well from not just Thurman, of course he would do really well, but also the band was solid! Very beautiful music making and I hope there is more to come of this!
Amazing music. Brilliant musician. Sophisticated technique. I've followed it, eyes and ears very attentively, until the very last bar and note. Beautiful piece of euphonium music.
This is amazing. As a concerto, it meanders purposefully, recalling Vaughan Williams. There are filmic passages with strong, declarative themes supported by lively, almost restless orchestration. Barfield has a real talent for texture. On a cheesy note, I kept thinking this could be substituted for Williams’ (John) score in Raiders.
Just to make it easier to read. In bass cleff it would be quite difficult if you are not used to playing these super high notes. That's what I think.....
