I have a question, when you plug the device into the outlet, does the fan turn on immediately, or only when you connect the resistor. Because mine turns on immediately, and when I insert the resistor, 12 volts appears on the terminals and the fan turns on at a much higher speed. Also my power supply doesn't need the whole transistor thing, the soldered resistor works and it's the exact same model
I have the same model (HSTNS-PL11) Just a jumper wire with no resistor, power cycled multiple times short and long periods it always turns on with 12v out.
Ya, of all the vids I've watched, this is first guy that says it won't turn back on without removing the resistor. May just get a breakout board, as I like the on-off feature most have.
Where can I get the information of which potentiometer from the board is for what use. Because there are so many, and I accidentally turned a few, so any help would be appreciated
Can you give me fan dimensions and is the fan pwm? How does the fan communicate/get orders to slow down or spin faster? Is it based on a load parameter or a thermal couple!?
Hi Sir ! I got one of this lately , but first try is not working at all , when turn on the power measurement is good , but after loading the power keep dropping until 0 , can anyone have any idea why ? thanks
when i did my power supply, i just adjusted the internal regulator , after breaking the over voltage pin on the circuit, but soldering it i ended up cutting my soldering iron tip to a flathead like shape , Then as i was heating the plate up i noticed the soldering wouldnt stick , i had to sit there and heat it up generously in one spot until i got a part of the soldering to stick, then SLOWLY work my way down the line , Also dont touch near the edges, last thing you need is a soldering short, i had to heat mine up , and scrape it with a razorknife.
can you help me too, be quiet! platinium 1200w or hp server 1200/1500w. Which one should I choose?.the most important for me is less power consumption. I'll use 6 or 8 cards rx 570 with btc-t37.
cool video, but your hands are blocking the view of most things you do - would be really informative if your camera was facing the other way, 1st person or top-down
I have never seen the turn on mod like this, this is unnecessary. Just put a 150-300 ohm resistor on 33 and 36. Also this is not how to adjust the voltage. You must locate the over voltage protection and add a resistor to it. I believe on the pl11 it is on the circuit board facing the metal wall meaning you must remove the whole board to get to it. This is a poor tutorial
Hello. please help me, I accidentally made contact between those small pins, the fan went into speed and from that moment even if I make contact between the first and fourth pin, I don't have 12v and the green LED doesn't light up anymore. Did I burn her? Is there any chance it will work? I have the same power supply. Thanks a lot
Muchas gracias por tu buen y meticuloso trabajo. Estoy totalmente de acuerdo con darle una segunda vida a los equipos y este es pequeño y potente. Gracias de nuevo!!
Hi friend. I did the mod, but I'm noticing a weird behavior. I turn the PSU on, the fan starts spinning, I put a load on it and up to 3A, the fan runs at the same speed initially, after 3A the fan slows down. Does yours is like that?
is someone in the room with you?? or is your house haunted? a couple of times I heard what sounded like a young child if you tell me no one was there then i'll give you the times i heard the voice sounds like a young girl i think. - one good example is she said WHY at 12:10 listen its actually 2 seconds later but goto 12:10 listen straight away - oh and omg listen at 14:24 girl laughing! - remember you are using electricity which may be electrifying the air! spirits use that energy to speak/manifest
# Scroll to end to see my end result that appears to be working for me. I know this is old, but I figured I'd post here in case your still reading or if anyone else sees it. I have the HP HSTNS-PL11 PSU, trying to just have it come on when I plug it in to use for a lipo charger for radio control use. I found a blog/site that said to use a 750ohm resistor from pin 33 to 36. That didn't work, then I found a site that said use lower resistance, so I put 2 of those in parallel. Then it seemed to work. I ran through a charge cycle pulling 30A out of it and it was fine. However, I try to use it today and the power light flickers on/off/on/off and the 12V output cuts in and out to match. Then it was suggested you could just put a switch between 33 and 36, plug the psu in, then flick the switch and it would come on. That works, but it powers off after 30 seconds. Well, the 12v output drops to 0v and the fan keeps spinning until I unplug it. Now I'm going to try your way. I also have a DPS-1200FB. Similar instructions for it. I have 2 of the 750ohm resistors in parallel on it and it stays up after plugging it in for about 20 minutes, then it shut off when under a 15A load. I also bought a pre-modified pair of dells which I'm trying to replace because the fans in it sound like a 747 taking off until there's at least a 3A load on it, then they calm down. Would be fine, but I use my chargers to discharge to storage as well, since the chargers only discharge at 80w, it takes a couple hours to drain my packs down to storage. That's a long time with no load to listen to the fans in my office. Getting frustrating. EDIT 08/29/2020: Running a test now with your setup, although my resistor is only 1/4 watt. Just ordered some 2W in case the 1/4 watt dies. Not sure it matters, but with mine, I can't unplug it and plug it in as quick as you or the green led blinks. I have to leave it unplugged for about a minute, then it turns back on when I plug it in. EDIT 08/29/2020 B: Didn't work. Seemed to work fine until I unplugged it, waited a long time, then plugged it back in. The power LED flashes and output voltage is intermittent. EDIT 08/30/2020: currently only using 150ohm from 33->36 and this appears to be working fine. I've charged packs off it at 15A using a revolectrix GT500 charger 3 times, discharged once, storage charged 4 times. It has stayed on the entire time without issue and now turns on/off with a power strip I have it plugged into.
done it to mine, exact model worked flawless thanks for the guide, i too found the same info online and it was wrong. Thank you for correcting that and showing us
Excellent video and spot on. Tried it out on a HSTNS-PL11 1200w version and it works fine using the components listed. For a second iteration used pin 30 for the capacitor ground, which is the 12v sb return. Interestingly pin 32 is the SCL @5volts which powers the base of the TIP41. The time delay is caused by the capacitor charging up through the resistor and then hitting the voltage threshold to trigger the TIP41. Next is putting on a very board with a switch.
I know this vid is a few years old but im using this same power supply for charging lipos, is it normal for this model to be at 13v and move from 13.40v to 14v?
