Clem had a daughter from his second marriage, born 1906. Although a society girl with advantages, she entered a Carmelite monastery in 1927. It was a rigid life -- but she wanted it. Clem was a doting father who wanted her to be happy. She lived till 1997 - maybe using the internet? Her zeal apparently brought John back to his own Catholic roots. He received the Sacraments from a Bishop in his old age.
I immigrated from China in 2005, I listened to Three Daughters of Farmer Brown from Voice of America in 1994 and today I finally found out about the name of its singing group. God bless our great American!
That's quite a story! Some questions -- was Johnny bilingual (immigrant parents)? Did his parents have a farm near Newark? Did his father attempt to find him and bring him home? Any descendants in the military? Given his heroism, I hope Johnny was well cared for in his geriatric years. (too bad he didn't meet Abe Lincoln in person)
The lovely first line, although not the second, certainly stands on its own and would be a so much more inspiring and appropriate national anthem than the bombast we hear instead.

We're doomed, though, because they're smarter than we are. They actually have underground civilizations that they've successfully hidden from us. They have even solved the Master Equation of the Universe, but aren't sharing it with us. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hFZFjoX2cGg.htmlsi=YO_c-mZ9pXi8FjRN
Loves it Mike. As close to a "banger" as there ever was for EFO for sure. Just curious, how old were you when you wrote that? I know it's on "Actually Not" (exceptional album title) but you had to have written a bit before that even. Jeez man. I love seeing the "way younger than me" patrons in the pub hearing it and not reacting initially the same as an EFO show and then them loving it. Thats a JT-like timeless song. (This is Andrew Bray BTW:-)
