This is such an excellent course seriously I learned so much. THANK YOU for this I do have a question. Which camera do you prefer the ARRI Alexa, mini LF or the red v raptor and why
@@CineAmaniacs First off, thank you for the warm compliment and taking the time to write a comment. Secondly, ARRI without a doubt. I prefer the color science over the RED. Don’t get me wrong, I do love my V-Raptor but will choose the MLF every day of the week and twice on Sunday. ❤️ Welcome to the channel!
@@firosiam7786 if you plan on being a Hollywood editor, yes. Avid Media Composer. But if you're editing short form and stuff for social media, I'd just use DR
@@acapedit yeah, I agree. It always of course depends on the project and it's budget. I don't know where each site sampled their data from. Meaning, how big the projects were.
I have been an editor for almost 20 years. My skillset comprised every platform, NLE, and level of experience. The rates being offered are actually lower than 2016, while the asks and the workload has increased exponentially. It is not sustainable.
Hi @BlindDeathh, thank you for commenting and joining our little here. I appreciate your warm compliments. I look forward to seeing you around here in future videos! Welcome welcome..
Awesome! I'm so glad my video was recommended to you, especially following such a great colorist! Thanks for coming by the channel, it's really good to have you here. Stick around because I have a lot of great content coming in my content plan throughout the remainder of this year!
@@knightlightshow I just completed the entire video. You are a true professional, and I learned a great deal about color grading and the technical side of Davinci. Again, you Rock.
@@kman0159 Aww, thank you! Do stick around as the channel is getting a new shot in the arm and a second wind as we start incorporating editing in Avid Media Composer and it's round-trip with Davinci Resolve for finishing. See you next Sunday!
I'd love to hear more about your perspective on the Avid vs Resolve space for editing. I know I already love it, but I'm biased having barely worked in Avid.
Hey avdcam, first off, welcome to the channel! Sorry it took me so long to respond. I think the next video I post for this coming Sunday will address this and more and believe you'll really like what I have to say. A lot of it will most likely be stuff you already know but will provide it to you from my perspective. Stick around, it's about to get really interesting around here :)
Thanks for joining us and commenting! Stick around, it's going to get really interesting around here as we finish up the year and I begin color grading our new TV series.
HI I'm a former telecine guy .. but moved out of color in 2001 ... got back in say 2021 when the technology was more Realtime. So never had internet from 2012 .. so I was blown away by the digitail cameras. I totally tuned out. .. Your channel your approach . is just how my peers used to be.. at the lab here in Vancouver that was a privet one .. was acquired by deluxe then company 3 added. I went back to go visit richard cordez who trained me .. and it was like fort Knox.. all the colorist are locked in a room.. we used to bring our kids in . people would drop by and sit in .. so that owner of company 3 I'm not a fan of the secrecy .. Secrecy of what ? How do we pass on kills inspire or teach ? What is i tlike down in calf?
As someone who is just getting into this world as a beginner, I feel so lucky that I stumbled across your video! I really feel like I just found a hidden gem! Thank you so much for putting the amunt of time and effort that you have to make this video. You’re an amazing teacher!
@@AustinWestbro awww thanks for the kind words Austin! Welcome to the channel! I'm about to post a brand new video after being out on an emergency medical leave so your timing couldn't have been better! Welcome welcome and I look forward to seeing you around here!
I've been watching a few grading video's in the last few day's and came across this video. Learnt somethings no one else talks about. Definitely subsribed and hope to learn more. I don't know if anyone has commented on the Bandwidth issue but, Many years ago I had the same issue in another programme on a windows PC. Windows actually threw up an error message saying the USB bandwidth had been exeeeded. So I don't think Davinci Resolve would show an error. Your MAC OS should really show it as it's more of a system error, In essence, Davinci did save you, as it could have behaved as if it was doing the render, and then when you got the file there something happened due to it not rendering properly and was corrupt.
@@Mixursound first off, welcome welcome to the channel! Thanks for commenting! Also, greatly appreciate the input regarding the USB issues, you do make a good point. Imagine a 4 hour render only to find out the file is corrupt. Really good to have you here.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and being a part of my channel. Stick around, it's going to get really interesting around here as we finish up the year and I begin color grading our new TV series.
I am new to editing and coloring in general. I decided to switch to Davinic because I can control the color more. and I can color-grade some of my vfx which is a huge plus for me.

Hi Dineshfilms, thank you for commenting and joining this channel. I'm having a little difficulty understanding what you mean by your question. I'm just assuming you are asking if your Benq monitor is a good choice for color grading as far as its accuracy is concerned. I dont use Benq monitors myself and am unsure of its color accuracy -- which is what you should care about when color grading. For my reference monitor I use only Flanders Scientific and for my main monitor I grade on an Apple XDR display. However, I am aware a lot of colorists prefer Benq monitors and are used frequently by colorists, just cant comment on it since I personally have never used them.

it only took youtube forever to recommend someone other than a straight white man to teach davinci. thanks for this i'm sending it to our staff to get them up to speed and educate the davinci noobs. side note i had that same mac, there was a gpu issue and holy hell did it wreck my life for after effects for the longest. apple replaced it for the m2 max if you haven't used it yet man it cooks
You sync all shots using the external recording as the base placing it on track1. then all the angles are placed from track 2 etc. You delink audio from video for the multicamclip, pick track 1, then lock the track from changes. now you can edit between angles using only the external recording for audio. I do it for every videoclips that I shoot.
Hey, this channel is great! thanks for sharing your experience. I've been struggling with my timeline lagging. It's strange because my computer is equipped to run davinci smoothly, but its not. I have a IMac 8-core intel core i7 processor, pro 5700 xt graphics card with 16GB VRAM, and 128GB of memory. I'm getting discouraged can you please point me in the direction.
I'm a nerd and OCD person. Here is a good place to be. Great infos, apart from some minor "errors" that the community already pointed out: really thank you. Instant sub

This tutorial is insane!!! Thank you very much for the sharing! Hope to see more in future about specific topics like groups, clips matching etc. This video make me subscribe instantly
Awww, incredibly lovely comment, thank you so kindly! I'm so glad you got value out of this video. Can I ask you what was your favorite part of it so I can use your feedback as input for future video ideas?
Your attention to the comments is a great plus! I found very helpful the part regarding the node tree Logic and the use of pre group/clip/post group/timeline. I know that there would be a lot of potential behind the clip and timeline switch in the node section but I never found someone explaining it on RU-vid. I see a lot of video of people explaining how to color a clip, but issues starts when you have different Clips to match and get the same color grading. And this is something that few people are teaching. In those days I’m starting watching your live sessions. Amazing!
@@lorenzonarwhal Awesome feedback! This will help me shape my content plan for new videos moving forward! Yes, groups (pre/clip/post) seems to be a big mystery to many people -- also shot matching! Hmm, I maybe I'll do a live stream on that this week. I'll schedule a live stream for Sunday and cover that then. Hope you can join us!
