It sounds like you were really able to sort it all out. You really did get to see a lot of cool places and I enjoyed seeing them too. Your new place looks cute and cozy from this view! Promised prayers as you pursue bigger dreams! ❤❤
The first part of this video was enchanting, kind of a shock getting snapped back with the costco haul. Best wishes, thanks for the good tips, beautiful opening.
Hey PaulMan and Tiffany! Great post! Thank you for letting me be a small part of your process! You all were so easy to work with! Glad you are enjoying the home! Jim Blair
In certain States if you paint the fence post purple, you are stating do not trespass. We have had even our neighbors cross over the property line and steal stuff off of our property. I had to contact the authorities about some stuff that was done.
Did they do any harm to your to you or your property? If not it should not bother you too much since yoy have no signs up saying private property, no trespassing in both English and Spanish
In our case, they definitely destroyed our property by cutting down trees. We know there’s no 100% way to keep people off our property, but the signs we think help.
I think you mentioned plans to have an AC unit as a backup for temperature regulation. Have you looked into geothermal as an option? Digging the trenches by shovel would be really labor intensive, but if you could rent a backhoe or something it seems like you could install the pipes yourself, and get the same temperature for less electricity.
We’ve researched that & noticed that the folks over at Our self reliant life (Green dream project) are starting a similar project, but what we have heard while researching is that geothermal doesn’t do well with the hot desert environment unless you dig reaaallly deep, but we’re keeping an eye out to see their progress. Our plan would be to bring in a large enough solar system to run a split unit ac/heat pump.
When I was 6, my parents thought we were on State property camping. The property owner came out and talked to us. He could have been rude. He wasn't. He showed my dad on his map where his property was and where the State property was. Actually helped all of us move our tents and stuff. That ended up saving our butts. The man came out three days later and asked if we had heard about the fire evacuations. We hadn't. He got our stuff in his truck while his wife and Mom got us children in the car and they took us to their house. We helped them get their animals and go bags and all left. They came and stayed at our house until they were clear to go back to their house. I know people that have been shot for trespassing. I still honestly believe that God lead us all together. We're all still friends. They were building their own house. It was amazing watching how it came together.
Thanks for posting your experience. We definitely didn’t go at our situation aggressively. We wish they would have talked with us, so we could have explained the situation. Most ranchers out here are friendly.. glad to hear your experience was positive.
Watched a couple of your videos first time today. I am a kindred spirit living on my little 20 acres of Peace in the Desert, about 175 miles to your east, 71 yo retired nurse. The best of luck to you is in making your dreams come true. I am now subscriber #442👍🧓 PS Check out a couple of your Cochise Cty homesteading neighbors channels: Tiny Shiny Home and Our Self-Reliant Life, if you haven't already.
@@Christenhelm 🙏for rain ☔ like all of us, so sad for Mother Earth. There's another Cochise Homesteader, a gentleman on his own, channel is Affordable Desert Living. I believe all of the people who have RU-vid channels in Cochise get together to help each other and for fun now and then also. And they all know the best deals for suppliers. Enjoy creating a place to thrive, not just survive 👍. Plant trees for shade this fall ASAP. Top priority. That I only figured out recently. DUH. Morengos are perennial, but in your zone might be annuals and may die every year, but they are are really fast growing from seeds, and will provide you with a lot of mulch. Desert Willows are good, but have to baby them the first few years, protecting from the sun and frosts. I use old T-shirts. I was supposed to have a man in my life to do this with me back when I bought mine in 2001. But that never manifested! Instead I ended up with 6 dogs now. Who are useless at helping me with building anything! 🍻
There are some really nasty people posting comments here that are just chomping at the bit looking for an opportunity to express their anger by doing serious harm to others. Sad and Scary.
I agree with you. These people should start a militia and recruit all these idiots to stay out there and protect their land from all these marauders. lmao
We did a shed to cabin and it was a lot more affordable than building with lumber prices. Had it spray foamed for insulation and finished inside completely with wood stove and etc . Very happy with the choice
The state won't protect your property, so you have to do it yourself. Squatters on rural property is a problem easily solved by a semi-automatic rifle and a backhoe. My backhoe is small and barely gets to 6', so I hope I never have too much of a problem. If the squatters move on as soon as they realize they are busted, that makes the problem even easier. I do hope you have notified the owners of the property they moved to. If you don't know who they are, they can normally be identified through the local property tax database. For better or worse, that is usually public information.
Does Jack come with it, lol? My in-laws lived in Parks, been there many times, but not in years. With all the illegals coming in, and seeing what they have done to the old ruins in the parks throughout the state, it has turned into a sh!t hole, literally! Made me change my mind about moving there, but I still love AZ. They do their business wherever and don't even bother to burry it, they should be rounded up and sent back, after serving time picking up sh!t!
putting up signs and taking pictures of the "no trespassing signs" because they will take them down. now if they squat again , call the law and you have every recourse to file and remove them.. it's happening all over the west. we had to put up signs on neighboring land around us ( with owners permission).. at our expensetake all the pics. it works....
I stumbled on a fb group of soverign citizens who made a lifestyle out of taking over peoples lad for rv and camping permanently. The thought that they knew the law and could take the land. It is a aomewhat organ8zed movement
No point in putting up fences if you do not plan on being around. As soon as they see your not there those fences will get stolen along with anything else that you leave unattended for any lengh of time.
Along with your no trespass signs, a sign stating that you use this land for target shooing at random times night and day. Fire a few shots at random times and word gets out real quick. Make sure you talk to the cops about the target shooting A friend did that and when he found some squatters who refused to move a few rifle shots into targets near them soon changed their minds!!!
Thank you for sharing that valuable information! Yes, it was very helpful. I know some things will be more or less depending on the county or my personal plans, but having an idea of prices and processes is extremely helpful. God bless you!
This is why I havent built anything on my land out in Cochise cty yet...i figured squatting would be a real issue if I couldnt be there all the time. Not to mention the local thieves.
