This song brings so much nostalgia that I am in tears. I was bullied in school and always wanted to be someone else, would day dream what it would be like to be the most liked, popular girl... and when I would hear this song, it was like Howard Jones was telling me to stop and love myself.
My favorite of his songs. I heard it as I was leaving to go out to "Danceteria", (a NYC club), w/ my friends. Fordham University's FM Channel dedicated a few hours each night to "New Wave" music & it was high volume in my room as I got ready. I quickly threw an audio tape in & got all of the info on the song from the dee-jay during the fade/ play-out. I was off to Tower Records the very next day, alas, SOLD OUT. Luckily, right back on the train to the West Village & "success"!. I found the 12' at Record Runner on Bleecker Street. Such Happy Times !
One of the best songs off the album Dream into Action. It was without doubt one of the best albums of the 80's by far. Howard Jones at his very best, a very underrated song writer and musician. 👍😎
You have been my favorite band throughout all his..... This song is about you awakeing to the fact that you are already living two lives because 99.9 percent of you is in hell and this is you switching into that consciousness.... Martin I know you personally this is not good
