The molds are not filled and left to dry, they are emptied to leave a HOLLOW part of the figure. It helps to give the figure it's translucent quality. I was a caster for over 40 years, I know what I'm talking about. Also, Lace Draping is still done, but not like it has been in the past. It's very time consuming and a bit expensive to do.
