Played a gig with Mike Dillion. Met Skerik once at a Crack Sabbath gig. These guys are the most humble nicest musical geniuses ever. Saw CB twice and both shows were the tops. Circus performers, Carmen Miranda ... these guys are LEGEND.
they sure are! all the musicians in this environment are so friendly. I asked Marco Benevento for a hug in line for food and he turned around and said yes and gave me a huge hug,
1994 or 1995: Seattle Center Bumbershoot wknd. Heard 'em, saw 'em, barked with 'em on a beautiful Labor Day Saturday nite outdoor show in front of thousands of freaks. Wow! Afterwards, we walked across the street to the 5Pt Cafe for some beverages. Whilst relieving oneself in the loo, we(myself and random dude going no1 in the piss stall) decided some powdered pharmaceuticals were called for. Next thing I know, random dude asks if "We'd like to go to a party"? Does a bear shit in what's left of Washington state's woods? Well, duh! So, my podner'(cat by the name of Doobie Darrin'), myself and random dude truck on down a couple miles south to the International/warehouse district...We walk into this big open cavish art/music/living space...Lotsa plants with long curly limbs/beautiful glass bongs(and Tommy Chong's favorite herb)/paintings/instruments/killer vibe/beverages/a misty haze and guess what? There were several species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave and grooving with a pict!!! This just happened to be the Critters Buggin' cave/living/rehearsing and tonite:partying space!!! How groovy...We had a blast: doing all those things one does in that situation...Smokin', chattin', drinkin', groovin', jammin'(lotsa instruments layin' around), flyin' our freak flags, you know the rest! The Critters were great hosts, warm and generous of spirit and it made for one of the most memorable nights of my life...
Yassss! Continuing my morning of amazing music! Just stumbled onto this... interesting that I just started a book called Irena's Children. Serendipity at its finest . Some of my favorite musicians, jamming where the book takes place, and generations of my past lived. Love me some good bass, drums, sax... and chicken heads. YASSssss! Thank you!
Okay, so with the house to myself, I decide to play some louder music and Critters comes to mind. Wanted to hear the live version of Shag so pulled up this video. I have the DVD but this is the first time on RU-vid. I notice that the comments are all years ago except for two people and think it is strange we would be drawn to comment within a short period of time and then your comment mentions serendipity. Now I'm curious to look up Irena's Children. Excuse me if this came across a little weird, hope the rest of your day was good. cheers,
