Bro this is the best video essay I've ever watched. And I've never watched a video essay until this, that shows how desperate I am for aot content and how good this video was.
Aye appreciate the kind words, man. Glad you enjoyed the video. Hopefully I'll get better at having an actual schedule rather than one that is more of a mess then these videos. Appreciate you stopping by man
47:32 btw this improvement is very little to do with the animation team improving their "understanding". It comes down to the time available in which to animate (the later parts had much better production schedules), and also which specific animators were available and willing to work on the show. Arifumi Imai, an animator who's work you largely just credited to Wit Studio, created the 3x2 and 3x17 Levi scenes you praised, as well as many other sequences in seasons 1-3. He was working for Wit Studio, but later left to be a freelance animator. He was too busy to return to animate for AoT until the final episode, where he animated the amazing final Mikasa + Levi vs Eren odm scene.
@@NotNormalYT np bro, happy to inform! I am a bit of stickler for crediting particular animators and directors for their work, not just the studio they happen to be working at/for at the time. If you're interested in knowing more about animation and the anime industry, the channels MankoMan and Probably Pretentious do a good job of explaining stuff. It usually varies depending on the anime, some have much healthier production than others.
I think that sometimes the return to the game you drop can enhance your experience with a game. The times I come back to a game I've dropped years later is like rediscovering the world all over again.
My first interaction with this show was watching the series finale- but somehow, I think having the context of how it all ended actually made the first three seasons even more tragic
@@NotNormalYT it def did- although it had the distinct side effect of me not liking Eren that much lol With the context of season 4, a lot of what Eren does and says in the earlier seasons feels pathetic and childish-especially his whole killing them all spiel. A lot of people called his final convo with armin in season 4 a character assassination, but I honestly think it’s perfectly in line for who Eren is. After all, he wasn’t particularly the greatest scout, what really made him noteworthy was the Titan he inherited, and he definitely couldn’t handle the power thrust into his lap.
Wondering why this video didnt blow up. Ughhh chainsaw man is such a good story. One of the first mangas I ever read cuz I absolutely had to read ahead after the first episode. An anime has never done that for me until chainsaw man. Now anytime I find a good anime I instantly go to read the manga of there is one.
Aot is one of those animes that you don’t understand why ppl r so obsessed w it, and even think ppl r a lil too obsessed, until you watch it. And then you understand it. And then you become one of those ppl who become obsessed w the story. And then it consumes your every thought for a few months
Really cool video!! Haven't gotten all the way through yet but it's awesome Really feels like the kind of quality from a channel with way more subs ha, hope ya get there And was that Filmora you were using?? I use that too haha
Thanks man glad you enjoyed it. Yea I use Filmora as the main editor and DaVinci Resolve for some effects not possible with Filmora and it's cool to find a fellow Filmora junkie lol
@@NotNormalYT funny enough, I've had DaVinci resolve recommended but haven't actually tried it yet. I guess the idea that I can have two separate audio/editing softwares to do different things hasn't settled ha, Is there no issue with importing one fike to another program?
@@linenotter In my experience I haven't really had an issue importing stuff to it. Maybe a small glitch here and there where it won't import immediately and I gotta do it again however besides that it's been a relatively smooth experience for me. Just gotta get used to the interface (something I'm still trying to learn lol)
Hey dont usually comment on youtube videos but because you have a smaller channel I feel like my opinion might actually be helpful. Your editing skills and overall technical abilities are really high quality. You have a good eye for b role and can obviously create a really strong atmosphere in your video essays. Buuuuuuuuuuutttttttttttt.... I think that the overall message of this vid seems really muddled/unclear. You dont really say what you think surrealism is you just picked a bunch of art that you enjoyed without establishing any sort of clear stylistic connection. And the artistic criticism that you provide truly just amounts to "i thought this thing was weird and i liked it". Your skills are really good and you clearly have a lot to say but i feel like you gotta come up with more well defined statements/analysis, stick to that analysis so the essay is clear, and proof read your script more. also watch monogatari youd probably like it
Yo I actually appreciate the constructive criticism man. In retrospect I actually agree with you here on the overall message being muddled and I'll try to work on that more in the future. Thank you for stopping by and providing some pointers
This video is very through and honestly deserves way more recognition. I like how you go over the character dynamics and how important those dynamics are to the story 😊
Glad you liked the video and yeah man the character dynamics of AOT were probably one of the reasons why I got so invested to begin with haha! Thank you for watching
