I often wished these kind of soldiers (no matter the country) would take more care of their own matters/safety. If they had put down this man by themselves, they might not be considered "actors" by so many. Which true soldier is in need of an elderly policeman to insure his saftety? Correct: None. If there was a ceremony to be held, I'm sure there would be a few comrades of their units who were not taking part in it and could do whatever the police does, and therefore earn the respect of the crowd.
I am a father myself and my son is probably a similar age. With all the crap that's happening all over the world at the moment, including in Germany, it's these moments that give you hope. Just a beautiful gesture and a proud and happy boy.
See this was beautiful but the cynic laugh at the world voice in my head did say 'The Army is trying to apeal more to youth these days with it's recruitment.....just didn't think they were targeting those at this little Lads age!' Don't normally have nice things to say about Coppers but this Lad is a Legend
Weird to see police on the sreets carrying carbines. We have more crime in America than in most European countries, but our police aren't as heavily armed in everyday work.
For most parts the general British police officer does not even carry any fire arms. But these people are protecting a building full off military personal. So also full of weapons and live ammo.
