Hi my name is Jason, I am a RU-vid creator that started out back in 2016. I have a huge passion and hobby for building and repairing computers, while enjoying the editing prosses too. In addition, I also enjoy product reviews such as computer components, tech and gadgets. Planet Kyros - Thank You! A few months back my fairly old Seagate HDD w/ Win 10 Pro began to make me suspicious it may be going out. I searched and found one of your vids for Acronis backup software to compliment my WD 2TB Element backup drive. I did some scheduled backups on my suspects old PC w/ old Seagate HDD. Then, just weeks ago, it happened! Drive wouldn't boot into Windows. I tried ALL of the Windows restore or recovery options. Nothing worked, Your walk through tutorial in this video was exactly my scenario. My first time through the recovery process yielded the exact same behavior of the ill-fated Seagate HDD. I'd selected the most recent restore point on the calendar. It was too close to the time of the failing Seagate HDD. I made a restore exact copy of my failed Seagate HDD onto my new M.2 drive. Uugh. I repeated the process. But this time selected an earlier date on the calendar by about 3 weeks. Then - Success! I managed to get an exact image of my old drive now operating on my new M.2 drive. I follow your concise tutorial to the T. I'm ecstatic to have access to my old data again, some of it 20+ years old. And I owe it to your recommendation of the Acronis True Image software and to very clear and thorough guidance your tutorial video. Many Thanks - Blessings.
Would it be possible to hook my Sata Ssd to a different computer and have the boot priority on the computers main Ssd with windows instead of having to buy a docking station?
Im around 16:10, I did all the steps, my motherboard model is a PRIME Z790-P WIFI D4, and it says the file is not a proper BIOS. i have the proper .CAP in my usb, unless its my usb stick itself. Thank you!
XMP is not for everybody and nor can you turn XMP on with any Ram. In addition to all that I was not explaining exactly how XMP Works nor telling everybody how exactly to do it it was just my own little thing on that computer that was it.
If after a reasonable amount of time like more than 8 to 10 minutes and your computer does not turn on go ahead and power it off and turn it back on again
Is it possible to upgrade CPU with motherboard without reinstalling windows? I'm planning to move from i7 9700k to someting like Ryzen 7800x3D but the main problem for me is that I dont want to reinstall everything after this upgrade. I'm currently on Win 10 and win 11 seems like a pile of AI that I dont need at all.
Yes but normally you have to install new drivers for the MB & CPU. Sometimes you get lucky and you can just swap. Give it a try. However, it is best to install a fresh copy on windows.
I have a 16-port PS/2 VGA KVM Switch from when I converted my 10,000 DVD collection into my Home Theater PC. Today the KVM is more advanced, you can now have audio networking USB devices, etc. I also have an old-school beige KVM I use for my retro gaming PC and use on my test bench. They are a great tool
In case you didn't know, if you create your setup flash drive with the latest Rufus, there are options that you can select to avoid internet setup and you can choose to setup a local account instead along with a few other options to save you a little time.
nice, wondering if there is a source for a guaranteed intel chip without the bugs, ifi heard right a high speed ($$) M2 PCi5 will cause other parts of the system to run slower?
In one video I watched updating an ASUS Motherboard the USB was 32GB and when I click on the ZIP File the size is less than 16GB. I have the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 DARK HERO Motherboard and the BIOS was the original first in the series and when I updated to the latest version I could not BOOT with 4 Dims. When I updated back to the original BIOS I can now BOOT again with four Dims. I have CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4 x 32GB RGB.
Just had the same thing happen to me a few days ago, also on a Samsung 990, and just like yours, at first it said no boot drive detected and went straight into bios. So I tried just simply rebooting a couple times and it went straight back to bios cause no boot drive found (didnt see the m.2 at all). Then I powered all the way down and powered back on, and then it mysteriously showed up and booted and went right into Windows like nothing was ever wrong. I did the same as you as well checking Crystal and Magician and found no problems. Kinda unnerving, but I do have everything on it backed up, Samsung warranties it for like 10 years, and Amazon carries them for same day shipping, so worse case if it dies, it won't take a whole lot to get back where I was. Apparently this is a thing with a lot of NVMEs, but in particular the Samsung 980 and 990 Pro. The controllers will just spontaneously die with no warnings, and then the drive is just bricked. Newer firmware is supposed to reduce the problem, but I'm already on the newer firmware and I had the incident, so 🤷♂ It's funny that we used to worry about mechanical HDDs failing, and then when we moved to SSDs it was like "Ooh no moving parts, so it won't just fail!" and now they do, just for a totally different reason. At least the mechanical drives usually gave some warning before going belly up.
Hey, after you download the file from the internet and place it into the flashdrive, do u still need internet connection to update the bios? Because im scared my internet is not stable and may go off at any second of the day, so ist safe or u dont need internet at all!
No internet connection is needed when you download it from the internet put it on a thumb drive and install it that way you only need an internet connection if you're updating it via internet
I paid Acronis for several years to do a mirror image backup with Acronis True Image. I just had a hard drive failure and downloaded the backup only to find that it is corrupted. Also, they have the worst technical support.
Im not able to even get a signal to monitor to get into bios, I messed around with something i shouldnt with kali linux and cant get a display nothing when starting my pc the next day. :( Would doing this with a usb and flash button possibly fix this ? Thanks!
What are you talking about? I love the video card out for most of it so I can install the rest of the nvme drives then towards the end I installed a graphics card and installed the drivers for that
I like the build love your tutorial but I don't like intake fans on top that is the only thing that would bother me to the point of getting a different case other than that great 👍🏽 job
Thanks your video was a tremendous help. MSI mobo worked seamlessly after BIOS UEFI Standby was enabled.... All worked well. Keep the product help desk coming....
This reminds me of school: where the teacher can only go as fast as the slowest student. So I can't really complain about the speed, even if it's slow to me. But very thorough and easy to follow guides (I've followed this and the flash update version). Solid work, thank you.
I downloaded the bios file using edge. I extracted the file to my downloads folder. My usb was formatted to fat32. I dragged the bios file that was extracted already to my usb. I restarted and booted into bios. Clicked in the m flash which takes me to where I am supposed to view the thumb-drive and file but nothing shows up. I dont know what I could possibly be doing wrong but ive wasted so much time trying to get to work. Halp please
My i9-14900K idles at 39-41 My i9 and bios are updated with 64gb XMP turned on. Lian-Li push-pull 120 radiator, RTX 4080 Super, UltraGear 240hz 45 inch monitor. I play AAA games all on Max setting . with Wallpaper Engine, HWMonitor 64, Fence 3, Ring cameras, Music player all running in the background. No issues at all and no temps ever reach over 75 degrees. However, when I ran Cinbench it throttles, but no high temps though, just core power limits. I don't trust or will ever run Cinbench again because it's to much demand on the CPU, GPU. It's like putting you truck in park and pushing the accelerator al the way to the floor to see the highest RPM. That's why it's RED to warn you. It's the same with a CPU. After a wile you will blow your engine, don't stress you CPU to red. that's crazy.
That was fixed with Malwarebytes version 5.1.9.124, i'm the one that reported to Acronis & Malwarebytes last month. As i figured it out at first by closing Malwarebytes, and backup completed, so then i opened support case with Malwarebytes. and then eventually beta version 5.1.9 was released and was able again to keep Malwarebytes active and complete the Backup fine. I even before i figured out it was related to Malwarebytes --did at first when recommended by Acronis support to run a Chkdsk on my Western Digital My Book 8TB drive--Took rest of that Afternoon, and All night.
I have my monitor connected to the motherboard, and have a rtx3060 dgpu. I noticed that when i connect monitor to the 3060 most games crash to desktop. When i use igpu for my monitor it does not. With the same performance, because the 3060 is still in the PCIe slot. My cpu is a i5-12600K Not the F, so it has igpu. Any tips&tricks for this?
What if you have a c and d drive (internal separate ssd’s) and did full backup, but only want to restore the whole c drive (windows and all) but not touch the d drive?
Good job bro but I personally was getting frustrated watching you stuff round with it. should just put a chapter marker at the demo so people can go straight to it.
Nobody forced you to watch it. If you want to support the channel by a donation, then maybe I would consider doing what someone says. This is free content for everyone. I would only take advice from someone who pays me or has a much larger channel and is trying to help like a mentor. If you watched the whole thing, I might have made 1 cent. What helps is a thumbs 👍 up.
I managed to get this Motherboard for 160 pounds, Allowing me the extra to get 16gb of the DDR5 Ram, I currently is using a Gigabyte H610i Motherboard, Its a bum coz I only just put 32gb of ram on my Motherboard, But I need a new motherboard, The H610i only got 1 M.2, I needs more than one M.2 for sim racing vids, I can use one M.2 for the games, And then the other M.2 for saving videos too, I have a Crucial P3 M.2 spare, So getting the MSI Z690 will allow me to boost my sim racing videos as well, People say it don't really matter abut the motherboard, But clearly the motherboard is extra cost for a reason yeah, lol, And I have a MSI 320 Airflow gaming case, And this motherboard is a nice looking motherboard, Plus after reading that the DDR5 16gb will be just as good as DDR4 32gb of Ram, How true is that, Is 32gb of DDR4 as fast as 16gb of DDR5 ram, Surely the DDR5 is going to be faster even if it is 16gb and not 32gb, But me getting the Z690 ATX motherboard I can put another 16gb of ram in the future, But for now 16gb of Corsair ram will be fine for a bit of Sim Racing in VR, Will the MSI Z690 allow the 12gb 3060 that I am using?, I would of said yes as it is a gaming motherboard, Designed with gaming in mind, The i5 12600k and the 12gb 3060 is a great combo by the way, I will get a 40 series when the 50 series gets released, But for now the 12gb 3060 is a fantastic GPU for medium to high settings when doing Sim racing in VR on AMS 2.... Looking forward to putting my i5 12600k and 3060 on this motherboard, And it will go with the MSI Case, Next I will get the MSI liquid cooler, To keep it in the MSI set up, Plus MSI is always top PC equipment..... I actually can't wait to play around and see what the difference in sim racing will be, I am wondering if the DDR5 at 16gb will be as good or better than DDR4 at 32gb?, Can anyone tell me first, lol... Yeah on Amazon at the moment this Motherboard is 160 pounds by the way, That is a bargain apparently, Let me know if 160 pounds is a top deal for this motherboard?.,....
I just purchased a DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 32GB kit for a new Ryzen 7 7800 X3D build and for the AMD Expo I require the grey modules with black top as they are Expo compliant, not recommended for intel. Intel modules with XMP are both white and black with black tops. My point was you mentioned XMP and using Expo RAM so you may have issues when using XMP with Expo or vice versa according to Corsair.
