Hey! I’m arkyus_! I'm a Rock/Metal Music Producer of nine years, and a Variety/Series streamer! I've been PC gaming long enough to remember Steam in Olive Green, and that I'm NEVER getting through my backlog of games. Welcome to the Circle-Pit! Business: arktic.media.business@gmail.com
I despise it when people say "It's just Skyrim in space" NO, NO IT ISN'T. It would be so much better as a game if it was. It's Skyrim in space but created by an AI with all the roleplaying and exploration stripped out which was already a diminishing in Skyrim and Fallout 4.
Problem is, Bethesda still makes 2010 games in 2024. They are unable to move forward. Starfield have by far the most bland and boring writting of any game that i have played in the last 10 years. The main story is boring, the characters are boring, the factions are boring. It has no teeth, it tries so hard to be "apolitical" as to not risk offending anyone that everything is just unending boredom. How can Starfield be good when we have Witcher 3, RDR 2, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, BDG3 etc? There are NO EXCUSES for Starfield to be like this.
The first problem with bethesda was when they created Morrowind, they relased an outstadning game (my favourite out of their games) but it was buggy and had problems rooted in incompetent engine usage. The lesson they learned was that they can make undercooked games and still be successful. And it resulted in them making every next game less and less polished. Up to Fallout 4, it was still working, though sympthoms were clearly visibile.
Bethesda fell off with Skyrim. It's an alright game, and financially successful. But Skyrim is the skeletal remains of their older titles that had all the features stripped from them and made into Skyrim. I would find it hard to believe anyone would play the game without mods which to me doesn't make that their game anymore when most people install 100+ modpacks to replace the entire game. Even when it first came out I found the game hard to finish because the base game is so lackluster. :/
On your point about the creation engine: how on earth can you support their use of by saying it’s a symbiotic relationship? Modders fixing bugs and stability issues using the same engine just points out Bethesda’s incompetence that much more
I think the problem with Spider-Man Games is that they pretend to be open world games but they are not. Dont get me wrong. They are GREAT story games with an amazing traversal system, but the side missions that fill the city are mostly just a glorified busy work with little to no impact to the main story or the overall gameplay loop. People who prefer the story will be bored by the open world elements that are sometimes gatekeeping the main story progress, while open world fans will not find enough to keep them entertained.
Bro, my first Bethesda game was Skyrim and already at the time, it felt extremely outdated. Although having an incredible story it was always an old game at launch. While others were experimenting with realistic graphics and gameplay, all Fallout/Elder Scrolls felt like Doom with prettier graphics.
I played no man's sky for over 800 hours, and I can say. Bethesda done screwed up man. Todd needs to get lost. Edit: Skyrim for a decade Fallout for 2000+ hours. I tried I promise you I tried. Starfield is hot garbage.
Starfields writing was atrocious… it was Reddit humor at its best Also I didn’t feel pulled into starfields world.. it felt like I was just there, going through the motions. I didn’t feel a sense of depth, or discovery at all Anyone who blames the failures of the game on the “creation engine” is tone deaf
Maybe bethesda should switch to making shows and more elder scrolls. The fallout show was pretty decent, but the games havent really been good since skyrim modders took up the chalice after vanilla released in 2012.
Starfield is pretty good. You lot just love crying. I believed the hype until i took the chance and played myself. It's fucking awesome. There's a few flaws with the outposts and companion following stuff. But that's pretty minor. You lot just LOVE complaining and getting likes by shitting on things. Kick rocks. It's better than Cyberpunk and i beat that too.
One of my favorite games of all time, ever, is Fallout. The first one. By Interplay. One of my least favorite developers is Bethesda. I have complicated feelings about it.
I was not a fan of Elden Ring or the dark souls games because I’m not about that life anymore of punishing myself over and over again for the sake of gaming glory. That sort of thing just doesn’t do it for me. And I was not a huge fan of old games. their style is kind of weird and surreal, and not my cup of tea. I loved Skyrim because it was more grounded and seemed like the least Bethesda-ish game. Until you got to the Dwemer and Falmer stuff. Then it too got a little weird. Oh and the demon stuff was weird also. ❤ I played Morrowind and oblivion. they were OK. I was not super thrilled with either of them because like I said they are weird. The lore is weird. I don’t like spending 3 million hours figuring out inventory and crafting in a game I was not a huge fan of the fallout series here either. this guy’s assertion that the fall out boy is recognizable up there with Mario or sonic is a little out of touch. My son and his mom are both fans of various characters. Including Mario and sonic as well as a plethora of other Disney and Pixar characters, I highly doubt she would even know, who the Fall Out Boy even is if I were to show her a picture

my first bsg game was F3 and even though they ruined the franchise, I was happy they breathed new life into it leading to the masterpiece of new vegas but like.. the trends were already there in f3 - all surface no depth couldn't put more than 4 hours into skyrim, it was absolutely mid, like come on, there is no question about how mid it was even for its era, im glad people enjoyed it but people enjoy crack too
I play FO76 every day. I visit FO4 and will play it more with the new content. I have started New Vegas but can't bond with the bland landscape. I hate B for what they did by convincing me to pre order RedFall.
Bethesda literally got taken over by blue haired women that don't even like video games. They have no idea what people want. Bethesda has been rotting from the core for 10+ years now.
As someone who genuinely enjoys playing Starfield, this video is comprehensive and its easy to both see and hear that you are an actual Bethesda fan. and seeing and hearing this from a different perspective has been very interesting.
Bethesda games aren't just modding friendly, the games rely on modders to make the games playable. They put out incomplete games and then rely on free crowd sourced labour to make their games better. After this process they take credit for the game as a complete package, disregarding the fact that the game they released was only about 60% of what made it good.
I had no idea what an Xbox was, let alone the 360 when I first learned about oblivion. My friend asked if I was going to get Fallout 3. I had no clue what that was, but immediately pre-ordered it when I learned it was made by Bethesda. And when Skyrim and fallout 4 were announced, I pre-ordered those without thought. Then came ESO. Which was fine. It was good. It just wasn't for me. Then came fallout shelter. Then 76 burned me bad. And I haven't looked at another Bethesda game before reviews. And it makes me sad honestly. My friends tell me to play it. That it's good. And I believe them. But I have other games to play. So it'll have to wait.
I always find Bethesda RPGs fun but I also play them as a sandbox rpg in which I focus my play through on role playing the character i create in the world they built. I have only played Star field for a few weeks now since I just got an Xbox (PlayStation guy) and I see the issues most have but the way I always play their games helps me to just have the type of fun I want to have. I do wish they had more immersive content in it but I also have perfected my ability to enjoy a Bethesda game. I hate that most can’t enjoy these games anymore. I admit that they have shackled a lot of the rpg elements but it’s still possible to have role playing fun with them, then again I did play D&D and DM a lot of campaigns as a kid so maybe it’s different for me. To better allow people to understand my play style I have put hundreds of hours into multiple characters on Skyrim and have never completed the main story once.
The worst part about Starfield is that you need to play it for an absurd amount of time to fully realize how much the game sucks. I've never had a game make me feel so indecisive for so long.
Wow. When did you make this video? The modding communities abandoning this game in droves. They can't even do anything with it. What are you talking about
I just couldn't get into Starfield. It feels like an old game to me. It would be fine if the game was like 12 years old or something, but I can't understand how this is a new game.
