Very unstable. 1. When I go to Preferences, Themes, only 3 are showing, unlike your drop down. Add in brought more themes. 2. I get an error opening any .FCStd from prior version. 3. Clicking the supported formats in the open file type drop down locks up the program. 4. Import is grayed out, how to import a file?

Having used the LC Interlocking bench a lot, I would suggest building your model up, then selecting all of the parts you wish to include in the slot function, add all of the parts at one time, set the material thickness and laser kerf, then, as you select faces set the number of tabs as you go. That will make a far more efficient work cycle. I can go from start to export on a custom 9x12x6 inch box in about a halfhour.

If you don't mind, I have one general question, but will ask it in reference to the screw hole created on the XY-plane @ 16:41: ÜWhy do you place this sketch on the XY, and not on the lid-layer?* Will this cause problems later on, if the lid height/width is modified? Shouldn't it be OK, because the sketch would move with the lid layer, as it now moves it's position due to the calculations for the positioning?

Thanks for the video. I see your video uses FreeCAD version 0.21.1, but I'm using 0.21.2 . I don't know if that makes a difference. I followed your example and printed the top and bottom. They printed fine with no obvious print defects, but they don't fit together, the top is too small in diameter. Following your example more closely, when you built the threads on the bottom, you can see that the outer diamter of the threads appears to be slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the rest of the part. When I do it, it looks like the outer diameter of the threads and the rest of the part are the same. This really shows up when you overlay your sketch for the top rotation. The inner diameter (before the threads are cut) of the top is much closer to the inner shoulder of the bottom threads on my version. Also, in your video, after you cut the ScrewDie object, but with threads set to false, the 3d image shows that the ScrewDie object outer diameter is slightly smaller than the rest of the object while on mine, the diameters appear the same. I see there are some setup parameters for the Fasteners workbench. Have you changed yours from the defaults? Also, when I view the data pane for the ScrewTap object from the Fasteners workshop, I have all the parameters set the same as yours, but my data panel shows one additional parameter, Offset Angle, that doesn't show in your video. Interesting, thank you. I have never worked with link, but I have done some work with clones. They seem somewhat similar. I believe edits made to the master up to the point the clone was made, are also transferred to the clone, but sketches made in the original post-cloning are not. The other big difference is the bi-directional nature of a link. Is my understanding correct?

Hello, I have a question. I am trying to replicate "threaded holes" across all four corners of the square. I applied multi-transform on a single "threaded hole" (which is present as a "Boolean" object in the body). While transforming, I am getting an error "Only additive or subtractive features can be transformed". Could you please suggest any other way to replicate threaded holes? I even tried to apply the threading to each individual hole. However, it looks like only one Boolean object can be active inside a body at a time!

Thank you for the guide. I damaged the cover of my installation box and wanted to remake it for some time. I got the 3D printer some time ago and Im confident now, that I can do it.

The Topo Naming issue is still present even today. The developer admit it won't come in FREECAD version 1.0. However they have included Topo Naming mitigation fixes to make the issue less prominent.

Using 0.21.2. Following the constraints step to the letter. However, this version of FreeCAD doesn't have the same behavior in constraints as what you are showing. Clicking 2 points and applying a constraint yields no results. Clicking 2 points and selecting vertical, to make the 2 lines equal, also yields nothing. FreeCAD just sits there. No warning, no messages; nothing.

I know this is a fairly old video but I have a problem. When I set the horizontal & vertical restraints on the hole, it puts it outside the lug, How do I correct this please?

I know this can be called the difference between a free program and a multi-thousand dollar program, but all of this effort is one button press in Solidworks. Why does this have to be so insanely over-complicated?

This is a really good tutorial. I know, I was trained in AutoCAD full 3D in 1998, and actually used to teach it. Have been playing with other programs for quite awhile, and until now I've never found a free CAD program I actually like. Well, I like this one. It's a very different approach to building a model, but I've been adapting to it. I can see this being a very useful bit of software. Keep up the good work on the videos. One thing I do notice (some constructive criticism) is that since you are very familiar with FreeCAD you sometimes choose a tool or do something so quickly I have to replay the video several times over at that point to pick up on what you did. It's an easy mistake, but even the smallest omission can drive a newbie to near madness trying to figure out what they missed. Seriously though, you did a great job over all. I know that teaching can be an enormous amount of effort that is too often taken for granted. Not here! Thank you for putting this together.

Pretty pathetic that you want to sell the Freecad file that goes with this project. It just takes away the spirit of the Freecad sharing community that we all take part in (except you). I could understand if it was a super complicated project that needed an engineer to figure it out, but this, IT'S JUST A BOX. Shame on you 😠

I am really enjoying these videos. Back in the early 90s I worked for Kimballs and majored in computer drafting . It has come so far since then . We had a version similar to Autocad that Kimballs had made . I'm going to go all through your videos and refresh my love of drafting . Thank you for all the time you have put into this . I know it's been few years but I just got started on watching.

I appreciate your videos. I was really looking forward to this WB. I tried this on the new weekly builds and I can't get it to export correctly. It mostly works, but then I'm stuck cleaning up the SVG file in Blender. It just doesn't cut all the way through on all of them for some reason for me. It seems hit or miss. I have redesigned, reassembled, reset it up a half dozen times, and I'm feeling defeated at this point. Have you tried in any of the newer builds by any chance?

Misleading title. I thought your were going to show how to configure a macro to automatically run at startup, not a macro that you can run at startup.
