Dang, you created so much work for yourself due to old man yells at cloud. Enjoyed though. Maybe one of the ants from the colony will win. Hope you'll have a good day! Unrelated: likely to cosplay cyclops when I head to local wrestling show on Oct.12th c:
The "Samoan Spike" is unquestionably the dumbest finisher ever. How the hell can hitting a guy with your fucking thumb be an actual finisher and be able to put a guy down for a 3 count? A fucking THUMB!!!
The rolling cutter or rolling ace crusher is interesting to me as the cross rhodes is like the best looking version of it and yet it's still not that memorable of finish I'll give cody credit tho everyone else that does it is really bad at the move
The Overdrive / Playmaker (early 2002/OVW rookie sensation Randy Orton / MVP) is, indeed, a terrible driving finisher. Now, if Bayley hit the Rose Plant in the same way that Jon Moxley (when he was Dean Ambrose in WWE) executed the original Dirty Deeds (as a Headlock Driver rather than being ordered to switch over to the safer-to-apply Double Arm DDT), Bayley's post-Bayley to Belly (which became relegated to signature move status once she turned heel in 2019) finisher would be more impactful. Enough said on that. The Rocker Dropper (used by Marty Jannetty) is another name for the Fame-Ass-Er (used by Mr. ASS himself, Billy Gunn), but its real name is the Running Leg Drop Bulldog. Like the ACE CRUSHER from whence all 3/4th quarter neckbreaker variants (cutters & stunners alike) originated, the RUNNING LEG DROP BULLDOG was innovated by disgraced former Vince McMahon boot-licking sychophant / Kiss-My-Ass Club real-life member, former backstage agent, former on-screen authority figure, former "Dynamic Dude", the kid brother to Road Warrior Animal & the stepfather to the Bella/Garcia Twins (Brie & Nikki), JOHN "JOHNNY ACE" LAURENAUITIS. You credit Randy Orton for the RKO when it is just Randy Orton being granted permission by Diamond Dallas Page to do the Diamond Cutter under a new name consisting of the three letters that comprise Randy's initials: R [andall] K [eith] O [rton].
The An-NIA-lator is basically just Yokozuna's Banazi Drop / Rikishi's Rump Shaker repurposed to the 2024 Queen of the Ring simply BECAUSE she's genuinely PART OF the wrestling Samoan dynasty (No, she's not part of the on-screen Bloodline stable, but she IS part of that family tree outside of kayfabe nonetheless). It's the same reason why all members (excluding Sami Zayn, who was always only a proxy member, even after making friends out of all of the Anaoi's) of the on-screen Bloodline faction (in both of its iterations) do Running Corner Hip Attacks, Headbutts (Standing, Running & Diving versions), Savate Kicks, Superkicks, Samoan Drops, the Samoan Driver / Rikishi Driver, "Superfly" [Diving] Splashes from the Top Rope & the Uranage / Rock Bottom / Sole Solo.
They often try to explain it away with commentary saying, "he must have planted that there!" Which can work with a wrestler known for being calculated.
I'd still say Rhyno's GORE & Goldberg's version of the SPEAR (effectively just an overhyped, commonplace Three-Point Stance/football tackle) are better. Besides, the SPEAR has been diluted with RHYNO (he usually performed his either to an opponent propped up against a table in hardcore brawls or more specifically, to Chris Jericho resting against the 1999-2002 Ovaltron mini tron to destroy the old Smackdown set to pave the way for the equally iconic Fist arena stage design from 2002-2006), EDGE (after formally dropping the Downward Spiral & alternating between his weak SPEAR & both the Edge-a-cution [Impaler DDT lifted from Brood stablemate Gangrel] & Edge-u-cator [Inverted Sharpshooter]), BOBBY LASHLEY (after he stopped using Ron Simmons' Dominator & before he began using the Full Nelson submission rechristened as The Hurt Lock as part of The Hurt Business faction [even though all The Hurt Lock truly was had been "The Almighty" re-appropriating Chris Masters' Master Lock for himself]), ROMAN REIGNS, JEY USO & BRON BREAKKER (when not using his uncle Scott Steiner's Steiner Recliner [Camel Clutch]) ALL finishing matches with it, whereas GOLDBERG mainly used it as a setup for the Jackhammer, both BATISTA & BIG SHOW likewise used it as a signature move, since their real finishers were the Batista Bomb (Sit-out Powerbomb) & The Show Stopper -- originally, this was the name of Paul Wight's Chokeslam, but the name was later repurposed for his Standing Leg Drop/Reverse DDT combination move that was later reused by respective Divas Summer Rae [Summer Crush] & Melina Perez [Sunset Split Leg Drop], in particular -- and seemingly ALMOST EVERY CONTEMPORARY FEMALE WRESTLER TO EXIST has used the SPEAR to some degree with middling to god-awful results.
The Rose Plant is a nod to her indie name Davina Rose. It is also a safer take on the Headlock Driver (OG Dirty Deeds) / Snapmare Driver (brief MIZ signature for a time).
Cody Crossroads is hilarious when you think of it in the way you explained. Am curious about your choices for Submission finisher, the mandible claw visually was always anticlimactic to me. My favourite ones are the ones that allow some form of struggle and visual excitement.
Part two is out! I do cover submission in it, but did not mention the mandible claw. I think it was great for Mankind in the beginning. Gross, had good story behind it. could get a great close up. Once it was tied to socko, I felt different.
V-trigger I don't see as Kenny's finisher. I feel like that just leads up to the One Wing Angel. I think you could make an for the Busaiku Knee. It is the move that beat Cena at SummerSlam. However I would argue it has not won as many matches are the Brogue Kick. But you are right it deserved a mention.
A solid finisher must have at least 3 parts. It all depends on the audience breathing. The call for it so the crowd can scream it's coming. The stall or set up so the fans can gasp. And the hit for the pop. Best are pedigree edge powerbomb chokeslam or tombstone.
You had me right up until the light tube bit. You mistakenly make it seem like there's a "safe" or "correct" way to use light tubes in a match. There's not. The main problem in no way stems from the diameter of the tube but rather the extremely toxic white powder inside the tube. There's no good or safe way to use light tubes.
You are not wrong. There will always be risk. I mentioned some of the "tricks" to a light tube. One of those tricks is to open them up first and dump the toxic stuff out. If you follow all the tricks you can make them safe-ER. About as safe a a piledriver.
it always felt so weird w big shows punch there would be so many times where he’d hold his opponent in the corner and chop their chest and it was made me think “just curl up your fist and aim 2 inches higher and you win lol”
The thing is, even HBK didn't start his career with Sweet Chin Music right out of the gate. He was a tag team wrestler first before branching out to be a singles star. Yet, even then, when he first transitioned from being a Rocker to the Heartbreak Kid, he still did the Teardrop Suplex as his finisher, with the superkick in his arsenal as just a standard move. Once it was obvious that the Teardrop Suplex had to be retired as a finisher during his ascendancy towards main event status, the superkick was given corner setup theatrics (the "Tuning Up the Band" portion of the move) before being hit, but sometimes, HBK would still just hit the kick itself out of nowhere, usually as a counter to a flying springboard move or top-rope aerial attack or as the final blow of the match after both he & his fellow competitors are all groggy & tired, so HBK nails the kick to his weary opposition before collapsing himself & winning by literally falling back onto them after they hit the ground or crawling over to their prone body to drape an arm over their limp form.
I have a specific philosophy when it comes to any type of narrative storytelling, and that’s to write your endings first so you know where you end up. Unfortunately wrestling is the only medium where that philosophy literally cannot apply :(
It is funny. Everyone who is new to booking does this, because it is the correct way to write a story. Then someone gets hurt, or the crowd turns, and the panic hits them when they realize they must change.
Where is Danni Bee OKC from Oklahoma City the big buzz herself. She is Currently Texas Pro Champion one half NWA and Mission Pro tag team Champion . Danni Bee is top tier talent a Superstar and a legend to Bee. Danni Bee is the Best of the Best and the face and future of Professional Wrestling ❤❤❤
I wonder if/when great talent like Chris Dickinson , Ninja Mack or El Loco Gringo will escape the indies ? There is SO MUCH indie talent right now , but I think a lot of guys are missing one thing stopping them from the next level . And that "one thing" could be different for each guy . Charisma , promo , physique , in ring , psychology . Yet some guys have it all and have been ready for TV for years !!!
