It seems that social media platforms are used to plant seeds of fear into people that want to preserve foods.... mmmmmm wonder why I love tradition and will keep on teaching my grandkids the old Ways!
Great idea! If there is a little wrinkling even when the glue has dried, have you tried pre-dampening the paper, to the point it expands before laying it? (Need to be careful not to soak it so it falls apart) Damp paper will take water-based glue ok and will shrink & tighten up as it dries. Water-colour painters use this concept to ensure their paper remains flat & drum-tight even when soaked with water-colour paint.
I got so excited that I just used ordinary basil, black pepper, garlic and dish soap... After spraying my greenhouse, it made the whole garden smelled like an italian restaurant T_T
appreciate the recipe and quantity amounts was curious if possible because theres so many fake ingredients in store bought cocoa unless i spend extra to import. will make the cocoa with no added sugar because im going for dark chocolate with cayenne pepper (Mexican style.)
What about adding actual bottled peanut oil to the stiff part of the jarred peanut butter, makes it easier to loosen up if using say a butter knife to mix it in there. Also allows control of the viscosity depending on how much is added. Peanut oil is expensive-ish but not overtly so, typically $7-8 a liter, unless if you go to a Whole Foods or health food store those are more $.
I guess you could try that - I've added back some I've poured of when needed. I usually don't have a problem with too little oil, just too much making the PB too runny to stay on toast.
@@AnOregonCottage Sometimes what happens though is the user might be apt to not wont to mix it together as is supposed to when the oil is at the top, going in maybe only 1/3 of the way down, and then, when he or she does get to the lower half (days later), it may be found to be seriously lacking viscosity, and thus, once again, he or she, finding a base of a close to solid aggregate, may be left with only the most palatable solution of…adding the separate peanut oil to remix. Ohh, the absolute travesty…
Man, the prep work required to set one of those is horrendous. The odds of it working for smaller coastal gophers questionable. The best traps are those stake type that drive a spike through the varmit. Time permitting a pellet rifle
That's interesting - we hear of different things working for different people. That's why we tested so many before finding this that worked for our gophers.
I personally haven't done it and didn't recommend it because, water! BUT I've had many people actually tell be they did do it successfully, just adding more coats of poly. One person mentioned it wearing after a couple years near the tub and that it was easy to add more paper and poly to fix it.
I used soaked hoses a lot where I used to live. My new place is on a slight slope. The plants at the top didn't get any water. So, if you have flat land, fine. If not forget it.
Yeah, you'd probably need to do terracing, etc. to get the water to stay. But that would be with anything, wouldn't it? A spinkler would just run off, too? Drip irrigation with little canals might work for you.
No, it didn't work on mosquitoes that I know of. Garlic powder isn't as strong as fresh and the smell is what is needed, so I'd have to say no to garlic powder.
When you are just storing the water keifir for a month or two, are you just putting the water kefir in the sugar water solution and putting a tight lid on it and sticking it in the fridge? How does that not explode and build carbonation? I want to make this but I am afraid of making an terrible mess by accident.
Refrigerating the kefir drastically slows down the rate that they eat the sugar - there aren't bubbles or anything forming. They really need warmth to become active.
I have problem with turmeric plant before, it is not growing well, the leaves just wilt so bad. After just put extremely big onion beside it, suddenly the turmeric plant grows extremely big. I think tomorrow will try with garlic as a companion to jasmine plant that has serious caterpillar problems.
Soooooo.... half of the video is the woman explaining why she likes or dislikes soaker hoses and the man is fixing it. She couldn't tell us how to fix it?
Ha! I would like more people to give soakers a chance, so that's my take. And yes, we have a division of labor at our house - I do all the gardening and Brian helps by taking care of things like fixing hoses. I'm happy to not have to do it all right now. 😀
Yes! I share more on how to do that in flower beds here: anoregoncottage.com/8-easy-steps-to-a-new-shrub-and-flower-bed/ and in veg gardens here: anoregoncottage.com/how-to-plant-corn-weed-free/
I`ve got 10 kills this year. 6 with gopher hawk, 3 with the green traps and 1 BB gun kill. I like the gopher hawk the best. Very quick and humane kills.
To stop it from foaming up when you pour it you should keep your glass in the fridge or preferably the freezer, works well for me. And the initial geyser of soda using the clip lids is why I use screw top bottles for all of my fermented drinks. You can slowly unscrew the lid only so far as to start releasing small amounts of gas and if it looks like it’s foaming up to the point it’ll start spraying you can just tighten up the lid, wait for it to calm down and then repeat until you can remove the lid.
That's a good idea to use screw top lids that way! I have now figured out a way to slowly release the gas with the flip top lids, too, so I don't get the geysers (and I hadn't really before this - I think my grains were really active for some reason at this time).
That’s awesome! I wish I would of known about this a few years ago! My mom’s house had just a concrete floor for about 5 years until she was able to afford to get flooring. This would have been such a better solution!
Made these today and this recipe definitely a keeper yum Super easy to make is right. Thank you for this wonderful recipe. Only 1st time in all my years of baking that I’ve made WW rolls. The other day I made white rolls to go w/homemade beef stew. I promised friend I’d make WW rolls. Hope she likes 😊
It has only done this very few times for me - usually in the summer when it's warmer and I leave them in the second ferment for the same two days - they only need one day when it's warmer, I'm learning! Also, if you slowly release the lid (unlike how I just opened it here), you'll hear some gas escape and then you can close the lid again and let it settle, then open all the way slowly and you won't get the spray (again, I'm learning!).
Trimming the lower leaves of tomatoes does a couple things - it helps with airflow and so reduces the chances of blight and it helps put the plant's energy to producing fruit. Keeping the plants smaller by removing extra leaves also allows us to plant them closer and tests have show that the harvest is the same or more than just letting them grow wild. Does that make sense? (Also, towards the end of the season, you'll want to prune any new growth and flowers off so that all the plants energy can go to ripening the tomatoes on the plant before frost hits.)
Where thick leather gloves when you pull the trap out of the hole. One time I had one barely caught by the fur and he was still very much alive I was glad I wore gloves , I also had a long copper wire attached to the trap and a long piece of rebar to stake it with.that rebar was used to finish the job , my version of wackamole
The only thing I can think of is warmth - when it's cold in the kitchen I will set mine on the heater vent for a bit and then wrap in a towel. My sister keeps a quartz lamp in her kitchen with her kefir bottle next to it for the warmth. I also will leave them days longer sometimes until I see the small bubbles forming in the tops of the bottles when it's cold. The reason I had so much carbonation at the end of the video is because it was hot out and I still let the bottles go the two days when they only needed one, so temperature is a key factor. Hope that helps you some!
