The way the infection works in this game is more along the lines of 28 days later where the infected are technically still alive but stuck in a state of uncontrollable rage where they will try to kill any uninfected person they see they are attracted to sound and will swarm any sound as for how they kill it's less biting and more just beating their victims to death also because they are technically alive you don't need to aim for the head you can kill them by shooting them in the body as well and as for the crying on in the beginning that is what's called a witch they just want to be left alone but are known to go into a rage state when someone comes too close and the old guy told the girl to turn the light off because light especially from flashlight will also trigger the rage state as well
