I swear to God I'm going insane. There's a traditional song with this tune my mother used to sing to me when I was small. I cannot remember for the life of me what it is.
I wanna know what that metal banging type sound thing is because I love it but I don’t know what it is and it’s in like almost all the music in invader zim
I'm 24 and never watched Zim until I heard about the movie, so I watched the show right just before the release on Netflix, and knowing the soundtrack was made by you as for the show is amazing
the one scene where they zoomed into the earth snd then zim and showing him controlling the whole fucking ship like the maniac he is was so epic for some reason
I could wax poetic all day about all the absolutely perfect choices made in this score. In the beginning, the percussion sounds include a sharp, militant radio static buzz reminiscent of comms, and metal clang sounds that bring to mind industrial and futuristic imagery. The chanting voices carry the pseudo religious tones emphasize a feeling of self-aggrandizing fervor that is necessary to fuel cruel, colonial imperialism. Brass shares the melody with the chanting voices, reminiscent of military fanfare. The strings add suspense with their flourishes. It gives the entire piece a grand, expansive feel. That synth sound coming in to add a bit comsic, alien flavor. I could go on, and that's just the first piece. Thank you for sparking my love for music that makes you not only feel an emotion, but also an entire *environment* around you. I feel utterly swallowed by this music, in the best way.
Great to finally see how this element of my favorite score was created! Huxley also wrote and performed the synthesizer accompaniment for the Genesis Project scene in “Star Trek II” and played the synthesizers for David Shire’s score for “2010.”
