My name is Graham Hopkins and I have a passion and love for the Pageantry Arts. I have been a member of PIW Indoor Percussion with Matrix Indoor Percussion on cymbals (15') and a member of the Canton Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps (15-17') as a conductor and Drum Major. Follow me on Instagram and Twitter @adm_grahamuel and if you have any questions regarding anything band related feel free to ask! Hope you enjoy!
this was honestly such a beautiful ballad to listen to(sadly never in person) but I wish it was in the front of the field and not amplified from the back. while it still has the emotional pull that most bluecoats ballads just have, it would have been better if they were right in front of the audience with raw brass power and not amplification whatsoever.
Well now. As a former high school band member, this got my attention. Found it initially on a transcription channel. That’s a sound my bandmates and I could have never produced. My senior year I was one of two trumpets, total of 23 kids out there trying the best we could. The way this was played is how a band is supposed to sound. Great dynamics, harmonics that just hold your attention, crisp cutoffs, and when those trumpets pop up near the end, goosebumps. I was listening on phone speakers the first time, stopped the music and put in earbuds and replayed it. Man what a sound. I actually yelled out “WOW!” to this one at that final cutoff. 14 years out of school and I’ve still got that ear.
This piece has evidently been around for years, and yet I only heard it for the first time last night(2/25/24)! I cannot stop crying when I hear it in multiple arrangements. I think I want this for my funeral
the last chord is so beautiful and that overtone just reaches the optimal point of my nervous system that turns me into a high school freshman again every time i hear it
7 years later and it still sends shivers down my spine. Props to the double F peeps that slide in there at the end without blowing out everyone else, SO impressive
I love bluecoats but theyre shows are to theatrical now i loved all the shows from 2008 to 2019. After that they got weird. Go back to tilt and kinetic noise and metropolis kind of shows.
Attention Bluecoats: Please bring this back soon and instead of playing to nobody in the back left sideline, bring it front and center on the near sideline. On behalf of the many thousands of your fans who agree with me, thank you. :)
Tears in my eyes every time @ 1:02 onwards, just goes to show that even a "heartless bastard" like me can still be moved by something so serene and powerful
Was very fortunate to get to hear this in person.. this was when the visited my high school. It started raining and they rushed under the bridge and started singing.. I’m so glad this video exists! But I was very fortunate to hear it in person under the bridge with them!
