Don't use this service. They screwed up my taxes and licensing and took no responsibility. They were terrible to deal with and caused me to have to pay tax penalties. The whole point of paying for this was to ensure compliance and make this easier. Instead, it was much, much more difficult, not to mention expensive, and they won't even refund the cost of the service. In they won't even respond to my requests to be refunded. I shudder to think of what would have happened if I hadn't noticed all they were doing wrong. How many years of penalties would I owe? Run as fast as you can away from this mess. If you had an experience like mine, I encourage you to report it to the appropriate agencies.

It's a shame the company doesn't give you a guide as to how much their service will cost per sale. (Only way to get a price is to "speak to sales" ... which wastes everyone's time if the product is out of your price range from the go-get,) Appreciate there are many variants within LARGER companies - who may also need extra services so a default price is difficult. But for (say) a simple business selling ebooks, a GUIDE rate might be helpful. What I also dislike is the $359 to register for each State you obtain nexus. If you sell via affiliates, and make sales everywhere, having to register in numerous States could get expensive! Then there is the extra fees for filing etc. To that end, a MOR makes more sense when just starting out.

To offer context, we recommend businesses speak to our Account Managers so that we can understand each business's unique tax situation, connectors and integrations, etc. and offer the best recommendation to meet their tax needs (included associated pricing).
We are selling solar products, which I understand some states don't require sales tax to be collected on solar products. I'm looking to get some clarification on that, and also find out if there is an easy spreadsheet available to find out what each states requirements might be. Also, if we don't anticipate sales over their threshold, but keep track of it, do we need to register from the first dollar, or wait to register if we go over their threshold amount? Thank you! We only have one location here in Mississippi, but sell to USA only states online.
Thank you for your question. Businesses become liable to collect and remit sales tax when they trigger either physical or economic nexus in a state. By selling into different states, it's possible to trigger economic nexus if your sales pass the state-specific thresholds. So, if I meet the nexus requirement in my state I have to pay sales tax. Okay, cool. If I also meet the requirements in another state, do I have to register and pay that state too (so like multiple states)?

Our whole tax system is the problem. Having all 50 states have their own rules and regulations and then the individual counties and cities doing the same thing? This is why VAT is a FAR superior system.
