My name is Sara Lawson and my pattern design company is called Sew Sweetness. I love sharing bag-making tutorials and full-length pattern videos on my channel, as well as quilting projects. Happy sewing!
Gotta say a massive thank you thank you thank you. Not going to tell you how long I've sat hete trying to do this. And then i found this wonderful tutorial. I had the teeth up facing me. And now watching this. And the fact i had teeth facing down it was easy. I'd been put off these zips by the yard because of doing this. Now I have NO feats at all
Thank you Sara. I am considering buying this one from Amazon CA. I guess the micro-lifter is similar to the idea of a hump jumper? Does this model have a free arm?
I finally tried Decovil Heavy in one of my bags; I LOVE it! It was really easy to work with and it made a real difference in the look and feel of the bag.
I bought one of these oilers. I am having an issue with it. It will only dispense 2-3 drops of oil and then it stops working. I then have to open the cap and close it again to get it to work. It is as if there is a vacuum being created in side the pen. The tool is solid and is not leaking. Also I am using Mineral oil in the oiler. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?
Thank you for this video. I have struggled with this issue a lot!. Do you have a video on just how you specifically attach the zipper tab fabric over the ends of the zipper? It looked finished (no raw edges) so I'm wondering about the overlap left to reduce bulk specifically in this area.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have never used zipper tape before. I appreciate the time you took to share. Maybe I'll give it a try. Thank you!
What I am going to do (because I forgot to install them when I was making my bag) is put the purse feet through the exterior and the lining. Use fray gel or fabric glue on the slits. Insert the purse feet. Then use either duct tape or glue the batting to cover the prongs on the lining side. Make a false bottom: Sew an envelope pocket with lining material that will match your existing lining and the same size as your bag's bottom. Cut cardboard that is slightly smaller than the envelope pocket and slip it inside the pocket. Then you can put that false bottom on the bottom of the bag. It isn't perfect, but at least you won't see the prongs. And you won't disturb the prongs of the purse feet. I hope this helps.
Love that detachable pouch idea. I was thinking it would be great in a knitting project bag, since you can pull out the notions pouch while knitting, but then it won’t e in the bottom of the bag when you are looking for it next time!
The info about how to thread the strap and attach was very clear, thank you. But nobody ever says how long the strap needs to be cut to make it fit an average adult woman.
I do have a mini iron and use it frequently right next to my sewing machine, especially for piecing quilts but also for that last press of a bag or pouch
I am new to quilting and would like to see the video of the bag from start to completion. Also, where can I buy the template? I would love to have this as my first quilted bag. Thank you.
