I always loved how Joker seemed to get more excited for these calls the more you disconnected them. Even in ME3 he’s got a line something like “You want me to call the council and hang up on them for old time’s sake?”
If you kill the Rachni queen on Noveria, the Turian counsellor asks Shepard if he finds pleasure on commiting genocide. Renegade Shepard says "Depends on the species, turian." One of my favorite renegade lines ever.
Honestly what I don't get and I'll admit that it's a massive plot hole is that they say asari can link minds and share memories etc (paraphrasing here) but in ME1 the Asari Councillors couldn't even bother to verify Sheps report with the vision yet Liara is able to?
I'm discovering Mass Effect 1 thanks to the Legendary Edition (already played ME2 and ME3)... I have to admit that disconnecting the meeting with Council is by far the cherry on the top the sequel are missing.
Fun fact: Councilor Sparatus, the Turian guy, is voiced by Alastair Duncan, who also voiced none other than our fav Senator who couldve gone Pro in College Ball if he hadn't join the Navy Senator Steeveeen Armstrong

You know, when I played through mass effect the first time I thought the initial doubts the council had were reasonable. The Saren investigation was set up to fail, sure but given the situation and the nature of a specter's job, I assumed they had an off the records investigation going on. When I find out they didn't I think "alright standard ignorance from politicians". I understood their skepticism of Liara. She's an unknown archeologist looking into the Protheans and she's the daughter of an Asari matriarch working with Saren. I enjoyed reading the codex so letting the Rachni queen seemed like a good move; since her story of the reapers and their sour notes made sense. I was done with councils bullshit after the thorian. You motherfuckers your entire society is built on Prothean technology, you should know that Prothean beacons can impart knowledge! Saren talked about the reapers before Shepard started chasing him! Saren could not fool that many Geth with simple organic charisma! YOU SAW HIS CYBERNETIC ENCHANMENTS! And yet I still saved them, the ungrateful shits.
