I have 2019 dd15 with 812k miles on it.never had an issue with turbo. Assymetrical turbocharger was good, why did you replace it in DD15 gen 5? I demand detroit and I demand answers
Whats amplified mode? How do i get my ghg17 to do amplified? Dont know if mines been turned down, but when i floor it and im loaded, it takes slow at getting rpms up. Lugs every gear. Dd13 ghg17, 10 speed direct. 2.64 rear. How do i amplified mode my fuel
I hope someone from government or someone from Freightliner reading this comment and gonna do something, ether Freightliner makes system that actually works or government ban automatic idle shutdown, so we as drivers can live normally and survive and be safe on road next day
I’m in 2025 model it’s worse than anything I drove past 10 years, stupid truck turns off on his own, air conditioning is not working when engine is not running, it’s driver abuse that we can’t control air conditioning in truck and we live in it 24/7, I’m so sick of new trucks and new idle regulations, is there any regulations about drivers life and not sweet and waking up every 20 minutes because it’s to hot??? I haven’t had even one good sleep since I started driving 2025 model, I can’t wait to get out of this stupid truck, now it’s 4.00am and I can’t idle truck because it’s turning off every 200 seconds, it’s fucking to hot in sleeper I’m sweating and it’s fucking impossible to sleep here and every day is like this, I haven’t slept more than 2-3 hours in one peace, this is human abuse and not safe because we (drivers) can’t rest for next working day.
Cant even get main seals for the thing ....they are new but when we have 100k of them out there and they start getting up to the 500k miles mark we shall see how they hang in there....hope the after market picks up where DD willfully screws over the little guy with 1 or 2 trucks. Shame on you Detroit making huge components like a TRANS not serviceable not even selling outer seals is low. Stop this type of practice right to repair should ALWAYS be allowed......period
This is TRASH. Its dangerous to say the least. Almost had several accidents because of it. It makes the roads less safe and makes driving a truck a nightmare. It blocks the truck from starting when you really need to move and people will be backing up thinking you can move and this trash puts blocks the starter. It puts everyone on the road including you in danger. Adaptive cruise is TRASH. CMS doesnt work in fog or rain and the cruise control causes you to be late because it does not tell you it slowed down for no reason which costs truckers a lot of money that they don't have! The beaping makes you want to throw the whole truck off the side of a mountain. The collision mitigation system has NO business in a CMV that's 80,000 pounds heavy. This crap will stomp on the brakes when someone is getting off the highway in a different lane throwing you out of your seat and making the person behind you go crazy trying to avoid crashing into the back of you. They make faces like you stomped on the brakes. Then it will make you fight the software for 14 hours a day bc it thinks every highway sign is too low and it thinks you are heading for a collision but you fight the jerking and computer hitting the brakes while people are zig zagging all around you. This software is a nightmare to say the very very least and it is a big reason so many drivers threw the keys at their dispatchers and QUIT! This software should have never been installed in any 18 wheeler it is not ready for the road and next time you full on dummies in lab coats think you know how to keep drivers safe go slap yourself. You need real drivers that take on mountains and work primarily over the road with real opinions that are not people pleasers to tell you the truth about this crap you make. So many people crashed lost their loads or ran off the road because of this trash. Shame on DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, NTSB, all of yall need to be fired. You put our lives at risk with this unproven trash. It makes so much noise. You stuck in an echo chamber under stress will loud beeping for 10 hours and tell me if this is still a good idea. You tell me why it beeps through construction zones that have lines all over the road, beeps cause they have a black dirt line in concrete and the truck doesn't understand you're not over the line or it goes nuts on a curve thinking you're hitting a wall. It's trash! It should have NEVER made it into an actual truck on actual roads with real people. Shame on you for what you make us do on a daily to keep from being keeled on these streets from your not so "safe" technology. IT'S TRASH. We deserve better. We deserve a day without this forced garbage making a hard job 10x worse and 10x harder and 10x LESSSSS SAFE.
The problem with my NEW 2024 Cascadia is that when it has already been running Optimized Idle, it will frequently give a “Safety Loop Fault, Key Cycle Required” dash message when it was already running Optimized Idle but the engine was off for awhile after reaching the desired temp in the sleeper berth.
I thought mine wasn’t working and had to do it backwards . Meaning I set the idle first and then turn on cruise control and it works . Took me forever to figure this out . If your light isn’t coming on drivers, just idle it high first THEN press the cruise control button
In Phoenix now at triple digits temperatures mine does not work, I did everything in this video but the ‘comfort mode’ option does not come up on the screen, it automatically sends me to the screen that says ‘enable opti idle/engine may stop/start running. Once I pushed OK works for a few hours and then it stops. I just woke up all sweaty and this crap does not work. Any ideas?
The DT12 is a great transmission but they need to take away the option to disable the manual mode. It's not saving any fuel when climbing a mountain and is downright dangerous coming back down.

Just because it’s that clean on the video doesn’t mean there’s no leaks. Maybe that driver who brought the truck in pressure washed the engine really good since he knew they were going to be working on it.
This motor is an over engineered hot steaming pile of garbage. Every new generation of Detroit engines, is just a further example of the quality is not longer existent. The 60 Series was the ideal motor for decades. Good power, good fuel economy, reliable, and maintenance cost was low. Now it’s a joke.
I genuinely wish you guys would share where the hood sensor is. My truck gets kicked out of Opti-Idle due to Safety Loop Fault, it think the hood is open. This is a genuinely dangerous situation in the summer heat.
It is One of the most frustrating most irritating Features ever developed on a semi truck. It causes other drivers to think that you're playing games and not letting them pass you at times Because it will randomly start to accelerate and then other times they pass you only for you to pass them a mile down the road. Four, you will go to past them and all of a sudden. It disengages and you go back into coast mode So then everybody behind you has to slow down with you. It causes way more passing and interactions between vehicles. And so to get around it, what you end up having to do is turn your cruise control off. And just use your right foot for hours and hour and an hours every single day. It basically defeats the purpose of having cruise control on in the first place.
The DD15 is a pile of overcomplicated, overengineered, and overpriced crap. Get a cummins big cam 3 engine. It's far more reliable and way cheaper to fix.
Did a cylinder head on a 2008 with 1.7M kms as the intake temp sensor had failed and a piece got stuck in intake valve and burnt it and while we were at it pulled oil pan to check bottom end and replace pick up oil seals and it looked exactly like this does, oil changes every 20K probably helps and it runs on Delvac Full Protection 15w40 fyi
