Road markings on approach, advised Calne. So i got the student into tge right lane (lane number 2) Also when entering your new road, off the roundabout, the left lane emerges into the right. So less stress fkr the student to get across. Good question from you to ask.
Hi Chris, maybe a daft question as I don’t know the area, but why has the learner chosen the right hand of the two lanes on approach, all the way round the RA and then exiting into L2 instead of driving on the left ? Normally the right hand lane is for turning right but these lanes were clearly marked and the A4 didn’t look as if there was anywhere to turn right as both L1 & L2 go straight ahead and don’t merge until after the traffic lights.
Thank you very, very much for your series of videos showing different driving areas in Chippenham! I live 90 minutes away, so I was not able to practice in the area. Your videos helped me a great deal to familiarize myself with some of the challenges likely to be encountered. My driving test route took me through a number of places you covered in your videos and it was invaluable - I was able to get into the best lane for the roundabout for the Bath exit, for instance, and it truly relieved the pressure.

@user - the learner was doing that roundabout correctly. The silver car that beeped her switched lanes from the right, which is going right to Calne. They were in the wrong. The left lane that the learner was in feeds into exits 1, 2 and 3 - exit 3 being for the station. It is clearly marked on the signs approaching the r/b.
I was really confused going straight ahead at both roundabouts in this direction. This video really puts it in to context. Stay left at the first and move across to right lane at second. Thanks for your videos. Please do more around chippenham.
You ain't kidding. I thought it was "Conservative Administration", but I could be wrong. Whoever responsible, would appear irresponsible! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gloucester_City_Council#:~:text=an%20unparished%20area.-,Political%20control,Conservative%20majority%20control%20since%202015.
I mean she chose the correct lane on the roundabout but if she chose the most outer lane (on the roundabout) to come of on that same exit would that be correct
@@yasmineyas8211 Yeah she did, obviously don't cross the road markings, they are there to guide you into your exit. Once you entered your "new road" you need to return to the left lane (as this is your normal driving position) when safe to do so. Many students stay in their right lane way too long, especially when going over the M5 with the protected lane.
No road is safe. National Speed limit is a 'Limit' not a suggestion. I would never drive at 60mph on a road like this. Country road, hidden bends, barely enough room for two vehicles. I always take a Nation Speed Limit as 'Suitable Speed for the road conditions' not exceeding 60mph.
1:20 If you change lanes while indicating towards that lane, I can't imagine you'd fail; if you did what I did and only check your mirror and change lanes then you will fail. The examiner did say he was satisfied I had checked my mirror adequately and that it was safe but that it was a major because I'd not indicated and so failed me. A fair fail, in my view. I was not prepared for the roundabout which is why I had cut lanes as I was disorientated.
It would depend on the scenario. (Lane block because of collision, broken down car, obstruction, etc). This may have to make you change lanes safely. It is a "spiral roundabout" so the concept is you "stay in your lane". Also "examiners discretion" on marking on the DL25 form.
What happened at the roundabout when she got beeped? She seemed to try to change lane in front of the car but you never mentioned it in the video. Did she start in the correct lane? Thanks for the video.
Why? Sorry I completely disagree. You haven't crossed the hazard warning lines. This is the CORRECT way of completing this roundabout safely. Taught it this way for years (since the test centre moved). Also I done this on my Standards Check.
Not unless the driver didn't see you. Pedestrians should know that they should assume all drivers no not see them. Except for the entitled people. I don't even know why, but even at night, they don't care if a car is coming
