The ongoing problem among the 'Family"? Their CONTENTIONS in HAVING to share wealth, privilege, and freedom. And when it comes to FREEDOM and BEING UNDER CHRIST, just how ironic those who 'rule' are behind their closed doors. Those who rule the world DO NOT REIGN with CHRIST.

Very nice to see the wonderful folks along the way. We got a kick out of the left turn into the cornfield. Mat was channeling Monty Python.. LOL!

THEY MOCK THE FATHER IN HEAVEN, but I personally KNOW who all should regularly be MOCKED...but this is not Christ like. All them are DUMB in the WORD OF GOD.

Bull riding at midnight - I'd be a bit suspicious of that as well. Good you passed on the opportunity. Judging from your tracker, you're almost done! You should do the GDMBR again, this time with Ross.

My nephew just finished the GDMBR and while he was riding I followed along watching your videos. Just wanted to say thanks! Since the I started following your Trans American Adventure and have enjoyed those videos as well. I didn't know how to track your progress until to late. I live North of Seymour Indiana and ride in that area and would have tried to meet up with you.

Great episode, thanks Mat. I was wondering, what do you do with the bike when going inside stores, or otherwise leave it unattended ?
@matryderadventures

I usually leave it where I can see it. Mostly, I only go in stores in smaller towns or busy places.

In Cincinnati. Contact me if you run into any problems and need help. I have to work but can do an "emergency " run. Also, if you need a place to stay, you would be welcome in our home. We are just above Route 50, at Sayler Park. You said you've had other contacts, but if those don't work out, let me know.

Some interesting places Mat, varied and some are rather compact to say the least! Constanly happy to see how nice most folk are, you had some great riding company, and that little dog is a STAR! Love the way that they managed to preserve an individuals humility by way of providing a small bell to ring! a cunning plan indeed............. Hope you continue to prosper, some good distances covered again, your fitness must be building. Calm winds happy trails.

Also, in relation to "why am I doing this?" and doubting yourself and all that... I just wanted to share that in May I quit smoking :) And I attribute some of my success to having seen your videos and heard you talk about how you quit when you were well into adulthood. I don't know if you did all of the traveling, hiking, and bikepacking before then, or if that came after, but to me it seemed like you turned your life around, essentially. And that made it finally click in my brain that I could, too. And so I did :)

I've caught up with this ride series now, having watched your GDMBR movie a little while back; a ride on my 'to do list' when time permits. Really enjoying the series and the vicarious adventure. Getting off the busy roads certainly looks like the right idea. The sound of the corn cracking as you turned around was superb.

Looking at the corn and the light, the edge of fall is on you. I live in and bike in Montana and Wyoming but you make the midwest with its mix of secondary highways, rail trails, and farm country gravel look appealing for bike touring. Great friends. The tandem looked pro.

In Kansas, we call those "hedge apples" and they fall from a "hedge tree." The wood from the hedge tree burns very hot - good for wood-burning stoves, but not so good for fireplaces because they do have a tendency to spark while they burn.
