When you transition from a Ute to a truck is when your wife divorces you and you have to commit and you don’t have to take camping trips every weekend or the wife gets her own car and you just become the work hog the work dog so you get your truck to commit to work And not have a life with your wife and children because there’s not enough room in the truck and who wants to be embarrassed by the truck when you can have the Ute or you give the Ute to the uterus you call your wife really? Is this the reason why American trucks got so bigso small and the Utes got so big but they do call them trucks over there they don’t call them Utes.
I have a 2022 Camry Ascent Sport - I love the new hammer head front end, the better technology, and the squarer dash, the better handling, the better suspension , the interior extra's - BUT - the new Ascent Sport does not come with the larger instrument panel like the SL has, as the previous model A Sport had, (that's a big no no for me). Also the back end does not look as good as the old Ascent Sport which has a colour matched lower panel under the bumper bar and better fuller rear tail lights - makes the A Sport and SL look cheap at the rear. The cost of the A Sport now being around $47,000 drive away demands more! Also my biggest grip with the old and now new Camry is that they sit too low - which is always an irritation when going up driveways with a rise or down with a sudden dip (always trying to avoid a scrap underneath especially the front end) - they need to come up at least another 2cms) not to mention getting in and out of the seats through the doorway almost gives you a hernia sitting so low!! Was going to upgrade but the above negatives and the price have baulked me. Yes! And the now hidden dual tailpipes which I like on my old one!
I think the design language for the new camry was a miss since it’s intro around 2017. The refresh helps but when you have Hyundai, Kia and now honda refreshing and remodeling at breakneck speeds toyota needed something totally new to win the segment. It’s just fine!
Awesome review Kez 🙌 Are they built in Japan for the Aussie market? Also would you agree the SL version is getting close to the Lexus 300. I gotta say this new version Camry looks really nice . Keep up your excellent work mate!
Hilarious that they wouldn’t let you sit in this, when I’m reasonably certain I saw this exact vehicle getting unloaded from a low loader with red dirt sprayed up it’s wheel arches and covered in dust today. Unless there is more than one of these things in the country. It was a ‘founders series’.
Have they improved the comfort of the terrible previous seats? They certainly look better. The previous model with its push the neck forward head restraints were so bad!!!
The other weekend I hired a rental moving van, happened to a year old Isuzu 155. Did pretty much as you said, the turning circle was a surprise. the auto clutch manual to a little getting used to but did up change early, so manual shifted a lower gear when on a rise etc, in the better rev range, not economy. Power was adequate. only gripe was the factory mirrors didn't extend far enough out to see the end points of the pantech fitted. No reversing camera on this one either, that is on the current model. cab wise, surprised no drink holders anywhere, the middle seat lies flat to become a bench come filing box.
Seeing this review its proof to me that people are getting ripped off in the duel cab range of vehicles the popularity is high and people will pay, so can ask the high prices...when you can get a small truck that pretty much does it all better for cheaper...
A bmw with screens cost 70000.people dont care. But when a hyundai gets a price increased people instantly get mad cars need to become expensive AND YOUR COMPLANING OF THIS NEW MODEL THIS ENGINE HAS BEEN TUNED FOR THE AUSTRALIA MARKET MAKING IT MORE FASTER THEN THE ONES YOU SEE IN EUROPE.
HC Driver here. Please for the love of god if you are one of those clowns I see on the daily racing through traffic in your ranger or hilux or what ever else you have. Do not buy one of these car licenced trucks.
Because they stuck to drive around all day. If it’s strictly a 100% work vehicle and you need to carry that load it makes sense. But if you don’t have a second car then it’s not useful. Parking is a pain in the ass and they are garbage to drive.
If you were a real truck driver, you should have pointed out that carrying over dimensional loads like pipes and wood, light vehicles can only carry 300mm overhang without a flag and 900 with! This is from the body of the vehicle. Width must be the same as the vehicle. If the NHVR starts to pull and fine people for this there would be alot more light trucks being sold.
"This isn't an ad for Isuzu" he says while standing in front of a dealerships worth of them on display 😂 But yeah, the light trucks have utes beat for weight and towing capacities.
I mean, it's coverage from an Isuzu event... A bit like when we attend a Toyota launch, or a Mercedes-Benz event - we talk about the vehicle in question... We don't get to bring along half a dozen rivals. 🤣
Trucks are great fun, I drove one of these moving houses recently and I was surprised how comfortable and easy to handle it was. It was easily the biggest vehicle I've ever driven and had a really good experience. So much so I ended up buying a truck, but a very small Japanese K-truck, which suits my particular needs.
This car is cheap because China is a huge CO2 pollution generator, and because the factory workers have no rights, are paid badly and are treated like slaves. China is a communist country. It is run by a dictator. It has an antagonistic military. It murders political prisoners so that it can harvest their organs for transplanting. I don't doubt that they can build good cars. Some of them don't look too bad. But there is a reason they are cheap. And that reason should prick one's conscience. If you are an ethical person you need to pass on Chinese cars. You don't want to be complicit in the human rights crimes which subsidise Chinese cars.
Of course duel cab utes have tools in them. They’re usually right behind the steering wheel. Meanwhile us “real men” in trucks keep them supplied with all the materials and equipment they need to perform overpriced work, all the while watching them drive like morons on an hourly basis.
