Crazy how in Canada, the powers that be will slap a bike sign on a sidewalk or a smaller road, and hey presto - a bike path. And drivers still think its a waste of tax money. Embarassing really. This is not a bike path. Its a few nice bike paths connected by lots of car infrastructure, no so cleverly disguused as bike infrastructure.

That headrest is a complete joke. I threw mine away on my Catrike Expedition, and went with a Finer Recliner memory foam headrest. Get rid of that little hard biscuit headrest, and upgrade to a Finer Recliner memory foam headrest. Which you can have the cover custom embroidery of whatever you want stitched onto it.

Wow, this is so disappointing, it's hardly better than just riding on any old route. I was expecting a safe route for riders.

A steady light is best

with all the dangerous crossings and sections, I don't feel like this is ideal for cyclists, especially for people not familiar with the route. It seems like you can easily get lost.

Bike infrastructure in Burnaby and Vancouver are abysmal tbh.

I've walked along the CVG a couple years ago. There's a beautiful section that takes you through Burnaby Lake. Only took about three hours. The reward at the end was a celebratory pint at the pub across from the New West pier.

This trail has been my favorite place to go for a jog every morning while I was a student at the UW. Watching you video brought back a ton of memories.

Hi Average Joe. An improved trail from the past. This is not part of Burnaby's 'official north/south connection, that's Gilmore Ave., and as of today (August 2018 Gilmore Ave., is an unholy mess and not likely to improve any time soon). I would suggest giving this route a C, as its a shared space with pedestrians and bikes. Pedestrians should be physically separated from bikes, and bikes and cars are happier when they are separated too. There is also no line down the middle to share the path with people/cyclists moving in both directions. Signage is also limited around here as you and your biking partner noted when you crossed over from Joe Sakic way to connect to the Central Valley Greenway (CVG).
