I have one just like your special bird. I keep my on my dog kennel at night she Flys in and gets on her PERCH that I put in it. 3 times (Possums have killed 3 of my chickens out in their inside run.) Your not crazy!❤your heart !
For those suggesting fake eggs in the comments, this is not a good idea bc mama hen will stay there trying to hatch them until she dies of starvation/ dehydration. The best thing is to break the broodiness by separating her from the egg box.
How are you finding these breeders? I'd love to find a pair of Seramas and Porcelain D'uccle's for a breeding program. I'm new to this area (NTX) and just don't know where to begin!
Broody hens are the cutest! At least you have a good relationship with your chickens, so you can get away with stealing her eggs out from under her. She'll forgive you... Someday. She's just a little ticked that you won't let her be a mom again, like you said. It's cute how she talks to you. She has a lot to say, for sure.😅🐓

That is horrid. But i could never encourage an animal to eat its own kind. No i dont have chickens. Im not a farmer...but thats a whole different kind of horrific i dont want to experience. Yikes. What a weird thing you farming people do. Why would you feed its child to it...gross.
