Sounds like a song a villian on a tim burton's film would sing, Florence's conveys more anger, she spits the words with disgust, which its just thrilling, indepently which is better, both deserve more recognition.
Exactly, he sings it with a whisper quality to his voice that makes it feel like she's the only one who knows about this, but Florence screams it. Sounds like she isn't ashamed or keeping it hidden, everyone knows and sees what she's doing. Love how something as simple as how you use your voice and completely change people's impressions of a song!
This version is definitely coming from the perspective of the rapist, but I feel like Florence's version is coming from the girl _dating_ the rapist who's blaming the victim for "enticing" her boyfriend. Like, "How dare you make him want you?" All gaslighting manipulation and no empathy, with a refusal to buy into the possibility that _this_ narrator, her boyfriend, is the perpetrator. However, I also get notes of lust for the victim from Florence's version that just aren't here in this one. This narration is more gloating and boastful than harboring any true desire, sexual or otherwise, for the person he raped. No, this narration seems to be all about power, and lording that power over the victim's head. They're the same song, but they give such different emotional perspectives that they feel like two characters in the same situation, like the songs need each other to contextualize what's actually happening. Now I need a third version that's somehow sung from the perspective of the victim to complete the story.

Yall can appreciate this version without acting like the other one is horrible bc to me...this ones a guilty pleasure but ceremonials gives a huge sonic otherworldly sound to this song and gets the meaning across way more
i love a lot of things about this version but one thing i really like is how quietly he sings about raping her (i slipped my hand under her skirt, i said don't worry it's not going to hurt), he speaks of it almost in a whisper as if to dignify that it's 'their little secret,' and that she's not allowed to express it any louder than he is.
