I was at this game, sitting in the right field upper deck. I remember J-Roll making contact and the right fielder running out of view as he chased the ball. I kept looking at the base runners and the third base coach and when I saw him wave the second runner in and the winning run score I swear it was one of the most amazing feelings I've ever felt.

People don't give context to guys like Ichiro, who are labeled great hitters but would have lost several points off his average if he didn't have that slapping style & speed to go with being left-handed.
Was this taken from mlb tv or straight from the broadcast? I know the broadcast versions of TBS games have a ticker at the bottom that pops up occasionally, and the MLB TV copies don’t have a ticker at all. This one doesn’t, so I’m just curious regarding the source of the copy you have here.
From the TBS broadcast. Back then, MLBTV had terrible commercial cuts, so I put up with the occasional ticker eating up some of the screen to have the good cuts.
Kevin Tapani...The guy was a GDm workhorse of a pitcher. His ERA totals may have been a bit high, but so were offensive numbers in that era because of you know what...We'll shave 0.75 off and say he was a rock-solid #2-3 on a strong playoff team, a #1-2 on a weaker playoff team like this mish-mash of Cubs (my MAN, Gary Gaetti!) - and capable of turning in this kind of performance at any time. Loved him with Minnesota.
There's no way Grissom isn't scoring on that last play, but...until this rewatch I never realized that Raines's throw from LF was even remotely close to having a chance if Marquis had hesitated or tripped or whatever. Either way...That was one hard-fought series. Gooden coming out of nowhere to start for NY allowing 1 run into the 6th was pretty impressive at that point in his career. Plus Cleveland's ability to conjure up the 'big moment' when they needed it...I remember we really enjoyed this whole postseason in my dorm room Freshman year of college.
