Point attribution is straight up retarded.. how do they get 9.40, 9.77 etc ? Its just plain ridiculous, i totally came to understand why Laird said he didnt like competition in surfing because it’s completely biased. They tie and because Kelly is second to go he wins ? What the fuck ? Also, judges attribute points based on the waves as if it was the surfers control when all one can do is surf the wave making sure you dont wipeout… surfing cannot possibly be a sport competition, it can only be a leisure thing like paragliding or something like that, it doesnt make one bit of sense to attribute points like they do

I’m gonna say it again, and I’m not taking sides because May the best man win, and God only knows who really won that heat. But it’s not a 10 if you grab the rail at the end. Everybody knows that!
Does anyone other than myself believe if Andy Irons could have kept it together and focused like he had between 03’ and 05’ he would have put a serious dent in Slater’s World Championships?
And the irons would have, and could have, but he wasn’t there so it’s kind of like an alternative universe. Today, I mean yesterday, after Kelly won pipelined with a masterful finale, he acknowledged that Andy Irons inspired him to keep on going all these years. Kelly is seven days short of 50 years old and he wins pipeline. I don’t think Andy would’ve done that! But Andy was fabulous! The best competition Kelly ever faced Year after year.

Slater uses His weight it seems to Get the high position in The Barrel. John John Florence has been a great Surfer for the times. Skateboarding Has made his Surfing Strong. Go for it style. And all the best waves That only the North Shore has, and the N. S. Locals it seems like Surfing every session as if it was the last.
May be the judging Wasn’t fair, but John John’s last wave was not a 10 as everyone keeps saying here erroneously. If you are a righteous judge, you don’t give someone a 10 when they grab the rail at the end right before emerging from the pipe. Holding the rail at the beginning as you drop and turn, they allow it, I wouldn’t for a 10, but they do. But no way are you getting a 10 when you grab the rail at the end. I’m not favoring either one of these guys, maybe John John should’ve won, God only knows, but he sure as hell didn’t earn a 10 on the final wave. What he did I can only dream of, but it’s not a 10.
what a joke with that 9.87.... john john's wave was a 10... longest, best barrel in all the footage. how convenient its a tenth of a point short of a win against Kelly Slater of all ppl... pro surfing is no different than any other dumb-dumb "sportsball" sport
how the hell are you supposed to judge that? since kelly is the goat, john would have to win with no quesitons asked. the last wave was good, but since it didnt stand out, kelly gets the win. thats the way it is
John last wave longer and deeper than any wave in the heat how did he not get a 10. That was a robbery. And even worse we got robbed of Florence vs Medina in the final
