Hello, i'm Gareth 45 years old from UK. I was diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer in June 2023, later graded Stage 3 (T3N1M0) in August 2023. This is about my journey through treatment to hopefully become cancer free, which I want to share to try and help anyone who is, or knowns someone who is going through their own journey.
You got a lot more than I have got in Scotland, and it looks like your treatment is a 100% better than I am getting from the NHS in the North of Scotland. Hope you are well
Go in next week for radiotherapy, cancer inoperable, chemo too strong for my weak body. Given 2 years. Gonna try cannabis oil too. Where you up to mate?
Hi Gareth…. I hope you’re doing well 🙏. I’m on the start of the journey…diagnosed 4 weeks ago…with chemotherapy to start in 3/4 weeks with a view to the surgery later in the year…your video’s have inspired me to face this head on…please give a thumbs up if you’re doing 👍
I'm exactly the same! The actual eating isnt a problem at all but the desire to eat and that God awful taste means you can't take advantage of that wonderful situation!
Newly diagnosed stage4 adenocarcinoma with metastasis to spine and liver. In hospital awaiting surgery tomorrow for a G-tube so can get nourishment into my stomach. Appreciate you giving your account. Thanks
Gareth my spouse is going on this journaey no one wants to take. We meet with the surgeon next week. In the states he had chemoradiation. If there are any positive nodes after surgery you then get Keytruda it is a game changer. I hope you are doing well. Thank you for your utubes. You have helped many.
Hi Gareth I am just starting same Journey that you have had and am quite concerned about the Chemo which should start next week as I am 81.However I am determined as you were to fight. Would like to hear from you when you feel up to it as to your progress. Any update is appreciated. Get well soon.
I’m sorry you had some complications, but hope you are on the upswing. You have a positive attitude which is so important, keeping you in my prayers 🙏🏻
Sigh of relief to see coping up with all the hardship. I was desperately waiting for your update. Stay strong My Father who is 70 is going through the same,he finished the brutal 4 cycles of FLOT just a week ago and is still struggling to come out strong out of the last chemotherapy. PetScan and surgery will be planned.
So good to see you Gareth 👍🏻 this is a long road and there will be setbacks so don’t stress too much, take each day and challenge as they come. FYI - the nerve damage on the bottom of the right peck does get better with time…I am 2 years post op and still have some numbness and strange sharp sensations but it is nothing like when I first had the surgery…then it felt like a steel band around my chest and sharp pins and needles sensation which wasn’t very pleasant. Keep fighting 💪🏻 I am rooting for you 🙏🏻
Thank you so much. Very reassuring about the nerve damage pain. That is exactly what it is like. Difficult to tolerate even clothing touching it at times. I’m so glad you’re well and have got through it. 🙏🏻
Can I contact you please. I am very much worried about my father's treatment. His chemotherapy has just ended and next step will be surgery after PETSCAN.
Hey mate I’m in Australia went through the same thing last February. Time definitely makes a difference good luck with your recovery you will smash it cheers.
So happy you are going home, you look great! I had a collapsed lung after a needle biopsy and yes it’s quite painful and hard to breathe. Glad that’s getting better, 🙏🏻 for continued recovery at home
You are looking much better today, no face tubes! It’s the little things at this point I would assume as I’ve not been in your shoes. Continued prayers for healing 🙏🏻
Hi my hubby had the same op as you. He had to adjust his meals to smaller meals at first but after a time he could eat more. Good luck for the future .
My mum had this operation 10 years ago, she was 79 this Dec. She's quite an unassuming lady, but she has a no nonsense determination about her. It's a wareing surgery to recover from, but you have to have a steely resolve, and absolute belief in your ability to heal. I wish you well on your journey.
Hey Gareth, hope that your surgery didn’t get postponed again…if you did have your surgery I hope you are recovering well 🙏🏻 I had the same surgery in Jan 2022 so I know first hand what you are going through. Hang in there mate 👍🏻
Hay. My Father is going through the same disease. We are done with Flot IV.Now surgery is to be planned after PETCT. I would like to know Ur journey of Surgery and post Op lifestyle please@@sparqx
Sorry you have been postponed, I’m sure you had your self all ready for it. I’m waiting on results from CT scan on my lung nodule, anxious for that myself. Merry Christmas 🎄
Hi Sandy. It’s the waiting and anxiety that is the worst! I hope you are told your result very soon. No matter what the outcome, you’re not alone! Merry Christmas.
@@MyOesophagealCancerJourn-nm2pt I did get my results. It’s still there, been following it since 2015 but 3 months ago it had a big change, did a PET scan and follow on 3 month CT, so appointment with Dr next week to decide whether to continue surveillance or surgery. All the best to you!
