In the tv series, Eric, Godric and Russle were the 3 oldest "living" vampires. In the book i am not sure who the pldests were besides Eric and his maker who in the books was Not Godric. The books had a vampire we meet for about 3 minutes named Godfry who dies in the sun and who Sookie cries for, his last words were that a human tears were shed for him or something like that. He wasnt even anyones beloved vampire. Russle was over 3000 and i believe he was killed in the books as well always leaving Eric to be the last living oldest. All the firsts are gone and dead. Lillith was never a thing in the books from what i know. there is a LOT left out in the series.
Honestly, everything the guy says is untrue. Everyone is Southern because well....takes place in the South ^^ It'd be like basing a show in Africa and being offended that the show is predominately Africans lol; makes no sense! And honestly, Godric himself is a testament to Christianity. I mean at the end, he was talking to Sookie about hoping God would forgive him. And Sookie, the main bloody character, is Christian. Just cause theres some radicals in the show doesn't make it Anti-Christian.
the contrast of godric's character from the flashbacks to present day is pretty satisfying for erics transformation after this season to a more sensitive character (especially after he lost his memory).
Dont get me wrong, I'm all for Godric. Without a doubt, he is my favorite character. Although he is barely on the series. But for a fight, I still give it to Russell. BTW, Russell is my second favorite character.
he just used it as a round figure , they mostly say almost , well i think he can have a chance , there have been instances of a younger vampire putting up a fight , heck alcide a human/wolf pwned a baby vamp
Russel states in this last season, that he is over 3000 yrs old. Even if there were a 500yr difference. Godric still wouldnt stand a chance. Not on a one-on-one fight.
I still wish that Godric had some kind of hidden power to protect him against the sun/phoenix something so he can return and maybe show (among others) Russell who's the boss;)
I think there is more to it than age. As in the season 5 revealed Roman was younger than most people in the council yet he is stronger than them except Salome. I think Godric could have taken on Russell.
he was born 1st century b.c in gaul which doesnt exist anymore which shows his age, he is roughly 2080 years old and russell is almost 3000 at 2878 or something.
Russell Eddington is the king of Louisiana, and he is over 3000 yrs old...Godric is 2200..as much as i like godric, he doesn't stand a chance against Russel Eddington.
Both tv series and books, Russle was Never king of Louisianna. Books/tv Queen Ann whats her face was Always the Queen , how ever a Different king takes over differing the tv from book. In the books a vampire named Filipé Dé Castro killed and took over most places. In the tv series this Never happens and Bill took over the queens spot as King of Louisianna. Russle was some where else i for get which area.
The Great Revelation wasn't just hard for humans but for vampires as well. For 1,000s of years camps taught their kids that vamps were superior to humans so they could eat them. Now AVL is seeking equal rights for humans & vamps. Vampires like Godric & Russell had to confront the truth that they spent centuries killing people not cattle. This moral conflict made Godric depressed & suicidal, & Russell insane & in denial. Godric killed himself, & Russell tried to destroy human-vamp relations.
@Kaysje I think TB wanted to explore the idea of a vampire who wanted to meet the sun & needed to tie him into the main storyline better than he was in the books. His tie to Eric made Godric very meaningful. Also I think TB wanted to show a healthier maker-prodigy relationship to contrast with the one between Bill & Lorena. Eric's love for Godric helped evolve his character, showed he was capable of deep emotions, which was essential to make his relationship with Sookie believable later.
I really don't get why they made Godric Eric's maker... How about the Appius Livius Ocella storyline?! And why would they kill him so early in the series. Just doesn't really make sense to me since I read the books.
