Aloha and welcome to my new channel, I am "RC", Amateur Radio callsign WH6FQE, AKA: "The Kilted Piper", and I will be your guide as we dive into all things pipe smoking, beard, kilt wearing, amateur radio (HAM), GMRS, and disaster preparedness related. At times I will share some of the beautiful Hawaiian scenery with you as well.
I am of Scottish heritage, and therefore I do wear a traditional Scottish kilt often as part of my normal daily dress. I am also a pipe smoker and have begun a small collection of pipes and tobacco blends. My references to piping will be limited to tobacco pipe smoking and not the Scottish bagpipes. Regardless of what some may choose to believe, not all Scottish people can play the bagpipes.
3 words… light the pipe, 2 words… tamp the pipe, 2 words… re-light the pipe, 3 words… stare at the pipe, 2 words… re-tamp the pipe, and repeat… watching a pipe smoker video is so… lllooooooonnnggg with so little said. Wish you did a comparison of the 3 pipes.😢
Woolite isn't as gentle on wool as they lead you to believe; it is also harder to completely rinse out than a baby shampoo is, not to mention the added cost of Woolite over shampoo. Woolite is what I started out using at first, but I started seeing damage over time to the leather straps which are not an issue with the shampoo.
@@WH6FQE thank you so much for the quick and detailed reply! I think I need to go watch some more of your videos to see how you keep your pip going so long, I've always had to relight mine after a few puffs. lol
@@jeremykrall1694 Its been a few years since I made any videos, but I am trying to get everything set back up so I can start making them again. Patience is the key to the pipe, along with getting it packed properly. If it is packed too tightly, or too loosely, it will burn out and require relighting. Patience and practice.
Relaxing tobacco, relaxing pipe, and absolutely infuriating insufferable jabber of irritating, blood pressure spiking birds. Jesus. I gave ya a thumbs up anyway. Don’t stop bein you, dude.
Thanks for sharing. May be Morgan can put this type of blemishes on the Bones' line spec so that customers are prepared for it. I do plan to get one of these.
I have that one aging in my cellar now and will be breaking it out to try soon. I have several varieties that have been aging in my cellar for the past 5 years
You're quite right that a "safety pin" will not hold down the apron of your kilt, but a proper kilt pin has much more heft than a safety pin. I know from experience that it does provide significant weight. I've been very grateful for it on windy days as I tend to wear it "traditionally."
Dont try that in Hawaii, our winds are too strong for that, lol. I also wear it traditionally, and I typically wear 16-20 ounce wool kilts, but on occasion i wear 24 ounce kilts, and the wind here will blow up a 24 ounce kilt with a kilt pin on it. Ask me how I know, lol
I make them from leftover leather scraps from making my sporrans and belts. The first one I had I bought from Etsy, but after seeing how extremely easy they were to make, I have been making my own ever since.
::Thunderbird insert fix:: If anyone has an issue with getting this insert to light after changing the flint. USE A BIC FLINT from a disposable bic lighter. Zippo flints for some reason will not ignite a flame in these inserts. Trust me and save yourself a headache. The bic flint works flawlessly. Hope this helps someone
I have not run into this issue yet with this insert but I have with other inserts and found the same thing. “Cricket” disposable lighter flints work as well.
I was looking at Savinelli unfinished pipes on RU-vid ran across this video. Didn’t pay attention to the name haha my callsign is KN4QDE I need HI for WAS haha. Anyway 73 and happy piping.
Aloha. Perhaps if the band start getting better we can make contact and get you the WAS. I have all continents, but the WAS is much harder to get from here.
@@travissmith2201 yeah, I have been watching that. Hopefully later in the year they will begin to open up some more and we can start getting back to somewhat normal airwaves. 73
I lost my accent when I was a small child. We moved to the US before I even started school, so I only have an accent now on rare occasions with certain words
Actually no. I had a medical problem come up which I had to stop smoking the pipe. I am just now starting to smoke the pipes again and am continuing with the comparison experiment. And no, the battery finally died, lol.
So as someone who sounds like they've never spent a day in Scotland how would you be able to answer this question? I am born and raised in cental Scotland
I kinda laughed at first because some flaws are to be expected but they probably didn't say that on the site 2 years ago when you got yours. Now, it clearly states that there will be some rustic imperfections that will not go to the bowl. Chris Morgan even put out a video here on RU-vid stating it AND said if one of his pipes burns out on you to contact him and he'll take care of you, so smoke it with confidence. But I'm sure that is all much more recent. I hope you're still enjoying your Bones, I love mine!
The Best Tasting Bleach I haven’t had any problems with it yet, I still smoke it from time to time. I just noticed how long it’s been since I uploaded a video. I need to get busy, lol.
And now for the real answer: A grown women can wear anything she wants to wear, just as a grown man can. There was a time when women were shamed (or jailed, or even executed) for wearing trousers. Thankfully, that time is long past. Traditions grow and change over time, as they should. If you don’t like the way a woman looks in a kilt (which seems to be your main issue), then don’t look at her. I don’t think pot-bellied men look good in kilts, but I would never suggest that an overweight guy shouldn’t wear one just because I don’t like the way it looks. That position would be a bit entitled, don’t you think?
Sure, IF a woman has a body shaped like a man with a 4" difference between the waist and the hips then, by all means, go for it. But, thankfully, most women are not shaped anything like that, and that is exactly how a kilt is shaped.
WH6FQE - RC Anderson But if the woman likes the kilt, who else’s opinion really matters besides hers? My bottom line is that I have become intolerant in my late middle age of men body-shaming women and telling women what they should wear. Women own their own bodies and can dress them however the please. If you had some valid cultural or spiritual reason, I would consider it. But “I don’t like the way women look in a skirt” is irrelevant. It’s her decision, not yours. Peace. ✌️
