Thanks for posting , never tire of watching this guys skill, he might just be the best of all time , i can't 5hink of anyone so skilled on both sides of their body. Sad that many great players seem to have their careers cut short by dudly doo-rights and the woke community .
Thanks mate. That was a very detailed compilation as usual with a number of marks he took as captain/coach of South I haven't seen. I was photographing for much of this time and took photos of many of his greatest marks, including three in the one day at Glenelg. One appeared in the Sunday Mail but was missed in the broadcast. The greatest of them is depicted in the AFL mural in AFL House. I got a great side on shot of the mark but it has never been published. Cornes's boot would be hitting a normal house ceiling. You have included footage of a speccy he took later in the season to win the match. I barracked for Norwood and got wrapped up in the game and unfortunately missed his match winning mark. Thanks again for your efforts. You would have to put a lot of time in to compile this.
The mark against Collingwood at 25:48 ... 😲😲I was at this game with my brothers and have no recollection of this!! 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ That's one of his best marks ever!!! According to AFL Tables, that was 08/06/87 and Gazza had 15 kicks, 6 marks and 2 handballs for 4.2. @xtremeactionvideos, can you possibly upload that mark in another video and have the lead-up plus let the footage go a bit longer afterwards so we can hear more crowd reaction plus the commentary? Thanks very much for this compilation as well!! 👍
Trust ABC to ruin the mark. A photographer took a pic behind the goals which I've seen and it truly is a sensational screamer. This footage doesn't do it justice. Remember David Cloke is 6 foot 5 and Ablett had both knees on his shoulders.
@stuartcallaghan3285 Pity ABC ruined it. 3 times in 1987 they did this with Ablett Snr. This screamer, a mark vs Sydney at Kardinia Park and another vs North at MCG.
when they say Ablett has taken a miraculous mark or kicked a miraculous goal they could have used the word standard or ordinary because for him it was no miracle
he is the AFL's michael jordan, boxing mahummad ali, baseballs babe ruth and a little bit more by far and away the greatest player our game has ever seen
Ablett claimed difficulty coping with city life in Melbourne and his continual absenteeism from training sessions forced Hawthorn coach, Allan Jeans into parting ways with the talented, but wayward young half forward.
I saw that goal off the ground live against the eagles at subi... i was behind the goals... we hated him, he was a goal freak 😂 never missed ... no curse would work 😂
Oh man, I was 8 then and I remember all of these - especially Steve Waugh's obviously, but also going to school the next week and impersonating Curtly Ambrose's catch.
The ice man so cool to watch, his deft touch and hip movement was second to none. Goal nouse and eyes like a hunter always looking up the ground to pass. Dunstall said Jars was the best kick passer ever to play with.
