Funny but I tried this with a 5 gallon batch of apple juice brown sugar and cinnamon. When I got it down to about 1 and a half gallons I stopped. The flavored was intensified. Much more like aa apple pie brandy. Or at least as I would imagine. Next time I will include spices that you find in an apple pie. I recently did this with a 7 gallon pilsner that I used a gallon of apple juice in replacement for part of the water. I stopped after only the second freeze because I didnt want to ruin the taste by over powering it with alcohol. Turned out ok but in the future I will probably only freeze beer once. Hey you have a good day. As for me my,"I'm guessing here 15%" beer/pain releiver are going to bed.
This process also concentrates the methanol content so you really should heat the final liquor up to 170 degrees F to steam out the heads, then transfer it back to a bottle to rack like wine and it will eventually clear up perfectly and look like a fine aged brandy. It also will taste better than any distilled apple brandy homemade or commercially made. I make this stuff and usually share with friends around Christmas time.
@@slavzurawski6123 yeah you'll probably be fine the hangover will suck but won't kill ya there's no more methanol than I your home brew and it doesn't really get that dangerous until you get to higher proofs lie 110 also it's not as much as safety consers as everybody's says not to sound like that guy but most of the fear mongering just came from the government as an excuse to make home distilling illegal
@@slavzurawski6123yes 1 full gallon of wine has the same amount of methanol as 1 full 750ml bottle of freeze distilled if u drank that full bottle u would have the same hangover as drinking the full gallon of wine before freezing 🤷♂️
Very cool - several years ago I did several veggies in kratky buckets - tomatoes, some broccoli, kale and other greens. everything grew great until I went out of town for a few days for work and late june in south carolina, it was 100 degrees and it literally cooked the roots of all the plants. I heard you mention burying the nutrient reservoirs - which was my plans for next time - which may be this spring. I like the looks and styles of your towers. do you have any reference to how deep I should go with the buckets to get the geothermic cooling to help keep the nutrient solution cool enough in 100 degree temps?
Hi Mike , I'm fairly new to brewing, in fact these videos convinced me to try this as my grandfather made applejack. Something I've always wanted to try. I saw this and I have made it in a gallon batch. Loved it so much I'm making a 5 gallon batch. Thank you so much! Jack.
Can you share all the parts that you used and a schematic of how to hook everything up. Please explain it in a way that a 5 year old would understand if you can. Thank you.
So you put a Water CPU Heatsink on a loop with another pump and some hose and stuck it in a cooler? Is that right? I'm not trying to over simplify that, I think this is fantastic. Am I seeing that right, is that what you did?
I know this is years later but I’ve finally gathered everything I need to try this. Was curious on if this really gives off the dreaded apple palsey like some say Apple jack does.
