@zachwillowbay1553 They are rap-rock that's why they have a lot of vocalists. Charlie Scene the one rapper and guitarist also does clean vocals/backing vocals for the band on some songs live along with the lead vocalist Danny
I don’t really dial it into a really perfect pitch. I guess I kinda think about it, I want kick and floor Tom basically same pitch, then the rack tom would be almost a 5th higher. But while gigging and depending on the gig, I kinda think more about references. And I have a few main ones that I can get really well, Dead/70’s, pitch is mainly irrelevant there. Bop, which I just want articulation and things are pretty cranked up, on the other end up jazz (big band), I go a bit lower than bop. Warm and in control, which is coated heads, slight muffling and lower/mid range pitch tuning. Snare is a whole different subject, but maybe I should start dialing into a perfect pitch. I have recorded with a kit tuned to the song, but I honestly didn’t notice it and then I felt like the vibe needed toms to be dead more than the notes mattered. Drum tuning is such a personal thing, only instrument where maybe 50% of players don’t even think about or know how to tune, haha.
Couple covers online of this tune, this is the only dude that nailed it! Gotta have that Porcaro/Toto, hold the line 12/8 right hand worked out. Porcaro’s had a looser shuffle feel, but the mechanics are similar. Really excellent drumming man. Everything was rock solid, feel was perfect, could’ve taken this track for the record.
Whenever I play this song on drums, there's little parts in the chorus that for some reason make me feel like sitting up straight while playing it, and you did the EXACT SAME THING I'm talking about in the exact same spot lmao
