I do like any point stance, I think it is actually 5 point but it differs where I am, with the play. I challenge the player on 2-3 points and 1 and 5 I hug the post
5 point stance for field lax is my go to but I always love the 3 point stance in box cause of how much of the net I can cover in such a small amount of steps without having my back on the cross bar
@@zajinramirez2780I don’t play goalie in lax but from the video I think it means the positioning. In the 5 point stance he moves to 5 different spots and the 3 point stance he moves to only 3 and the 2 point stance he moves only to 2 spots
can you elaborate more about the 3 point stance ie. where should goalies nose/chest be facing on the shooter/bottom crease angles? what happens when the shooter gets inside cuts in the middle?
If you want to think of it like this...the closer both your shoulders are to the crossbar the less the ball can go in over top. So that leaves the sides as the only option. Everyone is in love with stepping forward to cut down angles. While it works to some degree it is an adopted hockey mentality. So you aren't "squaring up" but instead you are holding the short side more and dictating the far side. This requires that you move laterally instead of stepping out which is moving forward. It also requires more patience and less guessing. Stepping forward, in my estimation and from my experience, is basically a guess. As for cutting the middle this stance just has you in a better position with less footwork. If the player is coming directly at you you are giving up more net being deep but at less risk for reach arounds and dunks over top = 6 of one half doz of another.
