Yes it ends the carby sync issue as it locks them together. i do make kits in batches of 10 when I get time. They pretty much go in a day. I will be retiring shortly and plan to do production. Where are you David?
Did you do just the prop BM, or did you also attach the engine BM (flywheel side)? Both area available and I've heard the pair makes things even nicer.
only did the BM on the prop side. You can also fit them to the flywheel as well. The Rotax engines despite how expensive they are the engines are NOT balanced so one on the flywheel will help too I would think. If you get yourself a Eprop that makes it all even better..they are beautifully balanced and really light so dont effect the engine a lot. The engines are far far smoother with a Eprop and they also give at least 4 to6 kts in cruise better than any other prop we have tried
Pretty poorly planned. The aeroplane is flying the pilot. You have to have a plan and speeds for every landning NOT A GUESS JOB AND FLY. Retired CPL BUsh Pilot.
Seasons greetings Mark and friends from the Savannah folk down south at Penfield in Victoria, Perhaps dream up a name for a meeting of Savannah's, ie a Suite of Savannah??, a Sully of Savannah??? Anyways the house and property look fab and well done. I've called you awhile regarding fuel manifolds and set ups on my Savvy and always appreciate your wisdom and willingness to assist. Also your radio and electronics knowledge you give on Rec Flying Website is marvelous. Thanks again for being a valuable and generous contributor to rec aviation and particularly the Savvy kids, Kind regards Matt Walsh Penfield. (Roger Weston at Caboolture's previous plane 19-4295)
Hi Matt thanks for the seasons greetings and the same back to you and your family and also the kind words. Yes we cant wait to move up here permanently. Never hesitate to give me a call and if I can help in any way never be shy to ask me. It was a great day here and everyone had a good time. Yes I think we need a grouping name for these types of events :)..was so good...Maybe a Swag of Savannahs ?...Savannah Swarm too maybe...
I use a CarbMate for carb balancing on my Rotax..works great. The BM should work on a CS prop but depends on how big the BM is as they can not make huge changes in a badly out of balance prop system
Hi mate just seen this video. I am thinking about a BM, they say they need a couple of seconds to balance between power/rpm changes, do you notice the brief out of balance until the BM catches up?
@@jimwolfe2862 Yes I had one on my aircraft but the prop was really well balanced. It did make a little difference that was measurable. If your prop is not as well balanced it does make a good difference. what it does do well is compensate your prop if you get any chips out of it
Rans has the pricing on their website www.rans.com . Depends on what options you want. I bought a kit with a Rotax firewall forward kit. You can buy them factory built but there is a long wait for either as they have become hugely popular.
Hi Aaron No most are still carbs. Trying to get a dual ignition system working that is independent of the electrical system is how they do aircraft. The fuel injection only really gives you slightly better fuel economy not strictly any more power. Any electrical hiccup can stop it also its a lot more weight as you carry 3 batteries and 2 fuel pumps also 60+ PSI fuel pressure running around the place can lead to nasty fuel spray inside the cowl while flying..Just more complexity...I like the KISS system
@@Ichibabba Yes it will be available as a kit. We are working on it now. I hope to have some available in a few weeks but depends on the laser cutter guys. We are getting about 5 sets done to make sure all is ok first before production can go ahead
Can you give me more information on this? My 912 has just started doing the erratic oil pressure thing and no one can tell me why. What valve are you referring to? Thank you
@@Wyrleybird41 The latest flap bracket also has a extra stage. The flaps have been reconfigured. Still the same total movement but arranged to different angle positions. makes it far better. If you look through my channel on here you will see the new bracket. It also fits with the twin stick mod from ICP even though ICP say you cant have mechanical flaps only electric with twin sticks but my system works perfect
Building a kit plane is on my bucket list. This one is reported to be about 550 house build. I think you can get it with a 180 hp engine instead of the Rotax. I just can’t get used to the Rotax sound. I like a traditional airplane engine rumble! But this is one beautiful plane and all aluminum is much more preferable than cloth to me. It’s down to this one and an RV7. The 160 knots of the RV keeps it on my list too. I wish I could afford both!
It depends on what you want to do with the aircraft. You usually can not have both. I want to fly in outback and remote areas so 100kts is fine but short landing and takeoff is essential. The RV is really only aerodrome to aerodrome flying. I am going to do a big bore conversion on a Rotax to give me around 120hp I think with will make it perfect for my use
I think it’s a great plane. I really want to fly it and the RV. One advantage the Rans has is I could keep it at 100 hp and as I age go light sport though with the changes in the medical in the US I shouldn’t need that for some time yet as I’m 55. Living in the southeast though there is not the vast public lands of the west and ours are very dense forests. All the open fields belong to people that might not appreciate someone landing in them. The RV opens up travel. Maybe I need a partner that likes both missions too and we build both as partners. That would really be the best of both worlds!
I've flown the RV-7, and own an RV-8.. I'm seriously considering building an Outbound because of the low n slow flying I want to do.. I love my RV, but there's something very appealing about landing wherever you want to.. The S-21 is the airplane I would build for sure.
I cant wait for my kit to turn up. I really was surprised how well this aircraft flys. Certainly the best I have ever flown...I am no expert mind you but have flown a few aircraft...maybe 10 different types. I Love my savannah XL but this blows it into the weeds although the Sav does have a lower stall speed
My prop was reasonably well balanced but there was a little vibration. The best thing now though is when I reduced the throttle and the engine was around 4600 to 4800 there was always this funny vibration..the BM has cured this basically now. I am very happy with it
That gauge is probably missing the metering orifice in the pressure line fitting at the back of the gauge . The hole is usually around .020" to .040" and it's sole purpose is to smooth out the fluctuations.
VFDs are popping up everywhere. Inexpensive way to add 3 phase to machines in your shop where only single phase is available. Limited to a maximum of 3HP though. I added one recently to a vertical wood bandsaw to slow it down to cut metal. Works great.
