My dad and papa owned d-land. They had to sell it because my great grandpa died and he played a huge part of the shows. I never got to see it because they sold it before I was born
I was born and raised there it’s so sad seeing it . When I went back to down town for dad’s funeral at Ralph Robinson I couldn’t believe how bad it looked .
We drive by this location regularly going to the lake like last week,it’s mostly gone (the fuel pump, signs). I always try to tell the story with family members as we drive by but seems irrelevant these days..Back in the 1980s I lived in Binger and went to school there, there was a house on down the road that the people sold minnows. lot has changed.thanks
@@shynickel8239 i’m sure the foundation would love to talk to you! Please contact Heather Beach at dunningtonmansionfoundation@gmail.com Thank you for volunteering your services to help restore this beauty!
@@jaysonbarnett4677 No little strawman creating simpleton, I am notating the silliness of people casting aspersions at something without having an informed position to do so.
I grew up in capital hill..this building was the Knob Hill theater I spent many Saturdays watching the matinee’s,Yale ,T.G.&Y was down the street (Sheen drug street) Biscuit Hill restaurant etc.John A.Brown was across the street.. I live further southwest of there now,it’s paradise 🤠
that's UMass, Amherst ?? that looks worse than some D3 stadiums. there are schools that have quit playing football, and their football stadiums look better than this.
It's intentional. What you aren't hearing is Simmons Bank owns most of thise builds. Then majority minority in the City of Pine Bluff is Black their hope is that they will move out of the city leaving behind abandoned homes for them to come in and buy. They will then Revitalize those areas. Go forward Pine Bluff doesn't need one penny from the citizens to upgrade businesses. They didn't need it for decades so why do they need it now? Everyone in government has an agenda and it has nothing to do with the betterment of the city. They are only interested in bettering themselves and their circumstances for their families. Most of which is happening through misappropriation of funds. The buildings redeem historic so they should have been placed on a registry to receive funding. Instead they sent vacant causing those who made consider the city as their permanent residence to look pass the city on to White Hall a City built on the tax paying dollars of Pine Bluff.
I was born in Topeka - 09/12/71 at Stormont Vail. I have moved many times since I was a child. 2153 Jewell is where I lived as a child. I went to AJ Stout. What wonderful memories.
It's stuff like this that I will always worry about my kids no matter how old they are. Just because you are male doesn't mean some weirdo serial killer won't take him out. My kids are 38 and 40 and there isn't a night that passes that I wish, hope and pray they are safe and don't do anything stupid. Bless my babies and keep them safe. †
You missed one of the most dramatic set of structures in OKC. OKC sits on a hugh pool of oil. Up until the 1960s looking across the skyline the most notable feature(s) were hundreds of oil derricks. Almost all are gone now. I was glad to see that gold bank on Classen is not on your list because it is still there.
Columbus Elementary was too old with tight spaces unable to use properly so may have had plans for demolition much time before occurred. Also, the school would have Halloween Haunted House parties for the school children and their families and friends and for that reason may have the need to be destroyed, but as said, probably with the intention of already knowing would be. I know, I was constantly there.
It was called the Bra Cup Church and I for one was glad to see this monstrosity disappear once and for all. The design was a memorial to the ego of the original minister who dreamed it up.
Have you considered doing one about Putnam City? The 'almost' capital of OK? Grew up in Warr Acres and there's a lot of folklore around that....would be interesting.
FYI to Abandoned Atlas Foundation just wanted to let you know that in the last couple of months 6 juveniles have been caught on campus and all stated that due to this video they wanted to come see for themselves. Now with that said they were released into the custody of their parents with a dire warning that if caught again on campus not only would they have to go before the federal judge but their parents also would have to appear with them.
@@harrisdail9939 in fact, I will pin this comment to make sure that anyone else who sees this video knows not to go! Thank you again for your hard work and making sure this place is well protected.
I see so many places like this on the net that have been abandoned.. it is so sad to see how it has fallen into the state that it's in today... I think every community has a similar story... I hope someone gets interested enough to help save this place and bring it back to it's former glory..
