dont use a wood drillbit, a depriming pin from Lee cost next to nothing, dont measure your blackpowder by volume, measure it by weight so use a cheapo ali express scale, wadd you can easely make yourself, some carton, or those things they use under beerglasses in a bar, cheap and easy
You don't have to clip the cross mags together, you could simply keep them separated as 2 10 round mags and you wouldn't get dirt in them if you went prone but they're still plastic lol. Impressive grouping , I've done some decent groups with my srv2 but nothing like that yet 👍👍
For the guide rod retaining rings, I tried 6mm e-clips and c-clips from princess auto and no luck, they are too thick to sit properly in the guide rod holes. I suppose you could chamfer the guide rod holes in the receiver to be bigger allowing for a more sturdy retaining ring to be used. Once my retaining rings crapped out from cleaning too rough I reached out to BCL and they sent me 4 new ones and a nice tool for getting the spring style retaining rings on. Might be worth looking into modifying the receiver to be able to use a more sturdy and replaceable style of retaining ring but would void your warranty unfortunately.
I have the same gun only mine has the distressed finish from the factory, Its a great shooting gun,I bought 1000 pcs of brass from star line this spring so no having to make them out of 45 long Colt anymore!
Prices are brutal for training indeed. I've been trying a "cheat" lately with a Derya TM-22 kitted out basically identical to my WC-180. Fraction of the price for timed drills. Lot heavier going to the 223 but my brain seems to treat them the same so far. I'll never be a Lucas B anyhow. Thanks for sharing Bud. Sub'd
Use Renaissance Wax it will both protect and water proof your antiqued guns. Museum’s use it on all their old weapons they don’t want to alter and leave the wear on.
Antique aka in the white. Take a scotch brite pad and apply some brass black or Jax black and add some patina to that gun. Or it will patina on it own. Just keep it oiled .
Thank you for your vids on the SRV2. Keep em coming. I haven't been able to test mines accuracy just yet, but after 300 rounds and not a single failure of any kind, I'm quite happy with it. I load .223 as well, and will likely try out your combo as a result of watching your video, so thanks again!
Love the vids man. As a fellow Canadian shooter, basically, would you still recommend the BCL SRV2 after all this pin BS? ive thought about picking one up myself. exited to see what u do with your paint job.
I want a coach gun but not a Stoeger. They look nice and lot of peoples are totally happy with them but i preffer getting a used russian Baikal and have the barrels shortened to 20 inches. Already have 2 russian sxs but i dont want to cut them. Quality on Baikal is much much better IMAO.
I tried this but the socket would not fit into the recess on the cylinder. I used a 5MM socket and got the notch cut without trouble but the socket would not fit into the cylinder on my 1858 Remington.
@Dusty_Tucker I forgot to ask have you ever had a problem with the safety? My rifle is brand new but it won't go all the way into safety it stops half way but the trigger stays solid and doesn't have any give
I'm looking at the Raven 5.56 or BCL Siberian for hunting predators. I'm leaning towards the Siberian for the price value. I'm not picky just happy if the rifle performs and does the job. I dont need a tight grouping, I just need to hit my target. Would you recommend this rifle? I found a store that sells the Siberian with the upgraded firing pin.
honestly yes, I love the rifle! I had installed a spring pin in the bcg replacing the stock retaining pin, because the factory one is garbage. it has been the only issue that I have had. the rifle shoot good! I would just suggest a high profile optic mounting device
I did almost the same with one of the brass framed Cattleman’s a few years back to get that “many hard days and long nights on the trail” feel’ came out amazing’ it’s as if the cattleman’s scream to be antiqued in a way’ the park job on them wears in really nicely over time and is noticed wear marks starting from being shot and carried in the holster I decided to speed up the process and did almost the exact thing you did’ it looks amazing and gets better with age.
Your video is mirrored, I can tell because the clock on the wall is either showing 3:25 or 8:35, but If you are living in an alternate universe I apologize. Oh, you say you live in Canada? That confirms the alternate universe theory. Anyway I thought you guys couldn't have pistols up there. I got me an old top break 38 S&W Harrington and Richardson revolver and It has a mixed family history, so I thought this might be a fun video to watch. I mean I can't be the only one interested in these old workhorses and struggling to feed them with their anemic obsolete ammo.
I can get 1/2" 200y with Campro 55fmj Happy with that. 300y the bullet drops 8" using CFE223 (group 2") I use range Brass. Costing me .55per, currently. (Alberta)
i use plain soft steel rod, or copper rod or alum rod without the tube. i dont think ive cracked any handles but i cant remember.. although i would think that the tubing actually prevents the peened rod from actually holding the wood together, arent you just peening to the thickness of the tube which can slide freely within the wood? or am i missing something? good start though
Nice clean job, Not sure why you're using copper. Brass might be more availavle and cheaper or even plain iron rod. You are going to need something to waterproof the wood to metal joint or water will eventually damage it. I do a little amateur knifemaking and use a slow seting epoxy resin. (J B Weld brand) to pin the scales to the blade. Peening the rivet ends isn't needed at all. I've made a couple of dozen knives, Mostly full tang, but a few hidden tang. The bond between is waterproof and much stronger than needed. I decide to replace the scales on one of my knifes because I found some nice walnut wood. The wood to steel bond was impossible to break so I had to gring and file it off.
