Bluegrass Country Soul, the first bluegrass feature film, was shot in Camp Springs, North Carolina at Carlton Haney's 7th annual Labor Day Weekend Bluegrass Music Festival in 1971. Released in theatres in 1972, the movie was issued on DVD by Time Life Music in 2006 and sold out. In 2019 the newly restored movie premiered at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum in Owensboro, KY. A Golden Anniversary, Legacy Edition, multi-media box set is now available through BluegrassCountrySoul.com.
What a strange combination of instruments. Two basses (one upright and one electric), only one guitar and I count at least twelve banjos. But a great show with all those legends on stage. Earl was very charismatic.
Where is the name tag for the Mandolin player? That was the man that sold me my first guitar and gave me my first and only guitar lessons. That is the one and only Frank Greathouse!
My grandfather and his brother my uncle Paul were the Springer brothers I grew up with the best bluegrass ever met earl several times didn't know as a kid how important he was. I'm 63 now and miss them all
I sit with tears as I listen and reminisce about my sweet Daddy. Earl Scruggs was one of his favorites. Daddy’s in heaven for 10 years now and hope he’s getting front row seats with Earl. I’m a western NC gal too and grew up on bluegrass❤
I'm a Chinese guy born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and I absolutely love and respect this man. Flatts and Scruggs are legends and I appreciate them so much. May this music live on forever.
I thank to RU-vid alghoritm and the absolute talent and dedication to music by modern banjo artist Phoebe Sanders to be able to hear this performance by being able to be exposed myself to a music genre I never envisioned of listening to.
Oh God!!! I recognized all but 3 or 4 of them on sight... I've actually become my father. Man, that makes me feel old, because most of them were kids back then.
I had the pleasure of meeting Lester and Earl years ago and Earl was the most humble, polite and talented man I have ever known. Heaven welcomed him with open arms.
