Team cohesion. Extremely important to build and maintain. I do that by looking for ways to compliment my team, and also finding ways to make activity meetings that have nothing to do with work. No one cares about working with or for an icon, so I have meetings where we have virtual lunch together or just hang out for 15 to 30 minutes talking about our plans for the coming holiday season.

Long story, oops. After realizing how I used to always be miserable going to work, or being there, and how I haven't dreaded going to work in YEARS, I searched for a video that was saying what I was feeling. This kind of did that. Making it about other people - sure. It helped. It wasn't everything though. Obviously for someone who is a supporter of a wife and kids, or husband and kids, or just kids, or whatever is going to find extra fulfillment in life when they are providing well. I don't want kids, but I do have family I care about. Not the point. Anyway. When I worked in the food industry I cared about making the food as good as I could for anyone. It made it bearable, and made me happy on the occasion that someone had to come to the kitchen entrance and thank me. It made me happy that the servers got tipped well, too. (being a kind, helpful person who was a benefit and positive influence certainly made me more likable and I got laid a lot by coworkers back then) Focusing on doing my job to the best of my ability, and always learning and improving is the other half. Knowing at the end of the day I did my best, and also making people happy. I don't work in the service industry, nor do I even communicate with customers. My job involves communicating with people who communicate with the customers. I send emails with data which will make it's way to the customer. I don't even give a shit about making the higher ups or the customer happy. I don't have to. It's automatic. By doing my job correctly, they end up pleased. What I do care about is making my co-workers have adequate assistance, recognition, and tools to do their jobs. Me doing my job makes everyone's job easier. Me going above and beyond makes everyone's day better. It has also netted me multiple promotions and raises which give me more freedom outside of work. I also have a lot more freedom while I am at work. No one questions what I am doing if they don't see me for an hour or two. I had a lot of jobs before this one where I DREADED going to work. I even had one for a couple months before I started at (current company) where my blood pressure actually raised from the stress and monotony of the job. (amazon, by the way) My point is, if anyone is unfulfilled at their job, where every day is the same, and you don't want to be there. My best tip is to find another job with either a reputable company with room for growth, or where you get good vibes and clear communication about realistic expectations both FOR you, and FROM you, from the interviewer. Then, don't worry about anything except doing your job the the best of your ability. Master it. Then your work will bear fruit. After that, communicate with your management about moving up if they haven't mentioned it. Leadership roles are always needed in some capacity. A big part of that is someone showing interest. By other tip is: if you find your job dreadful, and you try to get out of doing work as much as possible by hiding, calling out a lot, etc. Just quit. If you can afford to lose your job just leave. Find something that fits you better.

Yet one more video trying to glamorize the role of HR. None of these roles are unique to HR. You could say the same of just about any department. The real role of HR is to look out for the business. Specifically, protect it from its own employees. I can’t count how many people I’ve had to tell that HR is NOT their friend. HR will NEVER take your side. Human Resources is not a terribly difficult field to pursue. It’s merely a way for people too dumb to do anything else to rapidly gain power and influence. Dumb people with power: your worst nightmare. They’ll act like your friend one minute but reveal their true purpose in a dispute. I f’ing hate HR. They should be all busted back down the the personnel department and STFU.

Thank you for the video, I found it very insightful. Is there a difference between Organization Development (OD) and organizationAL development. I read from a book that they're different and I didn't get it well. Thanks.
@WhirlingChief
@WhirlingChief 4 года назад
Hi Ahmed, the scientific name for the function is 'organization development' (OD) and it is the system-wide application and transfer of behavioral science knowledge to the planned development, improvement, and reinforcement of the strategies, structures, and processes that lead to organizational effectiveness. Many refer to 'organizational behavior' (OB) as "organizational development", which is misleading. OB, by contrast, is the study of human behavior in an organizational setting, the human/organization interface, and the organization itself. I hope that helps.
@marlapietrowski8131
@marlapietrowski8131 3 года назад
Consider organizational development as a hybrid of traditional OD but newer concepts associated organizational development may not utilize all the values associated with OD. For example, humanistic and collaborative philosophies. For example Six Sigma and Lean.
