We haven't had electric vehicles long enough to know the costs and sustainability. So many of these slides cannot be proven with factual studies and statistics. It's really just guessing with pretty charts. Why did the county hire environmental consultants from Canada and not experts who are local? We want to make sure that any actions taken are cost effective with little to no unintended consequences. An example would be avoiding the spending of millions and the creating of extreme regulations to reduce a small, really unmeasurable amount of carbon over thirty years. Consider the consequences of many regulations on residents and businesses as well. Another example would be the continued investment into electric vehicles when they are truly not emissions-free. The electricity to run them, for the most part, comes from emissions-intensive fossil fuels. It is my hope that the committee and the county council will use a reasonable, feasible, and sustainable approach to these issues that we face. We have already made a great difference in improving and protecting the environment with regulations and programs already in place.

The last slaves in US territory were freed in 1866 by treaties between the US Govt and various Indian tribes that still owned slaves (all outside of the 36 states existing at that time). The USA outside of the former Confederate states, of course, allowed legal slave ownership until Dec 1865 (Delaware, for example) when the 13th Amendment was ratified.
